(Minghui.org) I am 59 years old. After I began practicing Falun Dafa in 2009, the insomnia that had tormented me for over 20 years disappeared along with numerous other health problems. My life was renewed. It felt like a dream, but it is real.  

One evening after a day of work and household chores, I was exhausted. I was dizzy, my back was sore, and I just wanted to go to bed and sleep. I had not been able to fall asleep for three or four days. Whenever this happened, I had to take several sleeping pills in order to sleep.

That night, I did not take the sleeping pills. I remembered the Falun Dafa exercises that my husband taught me not long before. Back then, he had just been given a Falun Dafa flyer. After reading it, he wanted to know more. He downloaded Master Li’s lecture videos and the video of the five exercises. He learned the first four exercises and taught them to me.

We also watched Master’s Fa lecture series in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province. I realized it was not an ordinary qigong because it had high xinxing requirements for its followers. I made up my mind to learn it.

Even though I was tired that night, I decided to do the first four exercises. My body immediately relaxed, my dizziness was gone, and my back pain disappeared. I lay down and soon fell asleep. I slept very well and was refreshed the whole next day!

In the past, even with sleeping pills, I still had to toss and turn in bed for two hours before I could get a light sleep. I was so happy, but also very remorseful: Why hadn’t I learned Falun Dafa sooner?

Before Dafa renewed my life, I had been plagued by severe insomnia for over 20 years, ever since I was in my 20s. I did not feel right anywhere. Dizziness, headaches, and fatigue were the norm. If I went for several days without sleep, I would have back pain, eye pain, and blurred vision.

When I had eye pain the first time, it scared me a great deal. I was preparing for a difficult test and would have to study for a long time. But my eyes hurt and my vision was blurred, yet I was not even 30! The doctor said it might be caused by long hours of studying.

It seemed that the more I read and used my brain, the worse my insomnia. It was a vicious cycle. In desperation, I began to take more sleeping pills. After a short nap, my eyes were temporarily relieved.

My initial insomnia came from being on-call as a resident physician in a hospital when I was in my 20s. Western medicine says it is a disorder of the autonomic nervous system. I tried all kinds of treatments but to no avail. Not only did insomnia linger, but I also developed other problems: premature heartbeat, severe menopause syndrome, hot flashes, sweating, and irritability.

In addition to the physical pain, my relationship with my husband became more and more strained. He was hot-tempered and did not help with the household chores--he expected me to do it all on top of my job. I was resentful and treated him coldly. After a fight, I would neglect him for months.

So that my minor children would have both parents and my elderly in-laws and parents would not suffer in their old age, I barely managed to keep the family together.

Fortunately, we encountered Dafa, which not only saved my life, but my family's as well. Thank you to those practitioners who risked their lives to spread the truth about Dafa!
