(Minghui.org) A 74-year-old Changchun City, Jilin Province resident stood trial on February 17, 2023 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been targeted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Han Tiemei’s family lost contact with her since October 1, 2022 and only recently confirmed her arrest and court hearing. She is currently held at the Changchun City No. 2 Detention Center.

Since the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Han has been repeatedly persecuted for her faith.

While caring for her daughter who had just given birth in August 1999, Ms. Han was arrested by the village secretary Chen Baipeng and taken to his home. Although she returned home soon after, her daughter was so terrified that she suffered from low breast milk supply since. The new mother also caught a cold.

Chen led eight people to harass Ms. Han again one night in 2000 and demanded to know if she was still practicing Falun Gong. She tried to clarify the facts about Falun Gong to them and they kept silent.

Ms. Han was arrested on May 15, 2015 while talking to people about Falun Gong on the street. She was rejected admission by the local lockup due to a medical condition and released around 3 a.m. Two other practitioners arrested with her were detained.

Ms. Han was arrested again on June 2, 2018, also for talking to people about Falun Gong on the street. Over 20 officers were present during her arrest. Her Falun Gong related materials were confiscated. The lockup also refused to admit her due to her health condition and she was released around 3 a.m.

Ms. Han was harassed one more time by the local government officials in October 2020.

According to information collected by Minghui.org, at least 1,011 persecution incidents were reported in Jilin Province in 2022. Four practitioners died due to the persecution, 40 were sentenced to prison, 338 were arrested and 384 harassed. Another 163 practitioners had their homes ransacked and 41 had their pension suspended. Thirty-four practitioners were taken to brainwashing centers and 7 were forced to live away from home to hide from the police.
