(Minghui.org) The latest wave of COVID swept across China like a tsunami, and countless people were infected. Beijing was the first to bear the brunt, and almost everyone got infected. Many senior Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials, many experts and scholars, and many celebrities died. In just a few days, quite a number of Beijing University and Tsinghua University professors passed away. Most of them were members or followers of the CCP.
There are people who are kind, but because they do not know the truth and have not yet quit the CCP, they are also in danger, especially the elites from all walks of life. They joined the CCP due to brainwashing and deception the temptation of personal gains.
I have a cousin, whose father was denounced as a “capitalist roader” during the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976). His father was locked up, criticized, and beaten until his back was broken. My cousin grew up in fear. His suffering continued when he was fired from his job and lost his source of income.
Later, he studied hard and earned a Ph.D. degree. He was the first person in his city to earn such an honor after the restoration of the academic degree system in China. Local media outlets covered his achievement, and all of a sudden this man, who had always been ignored, received numerous interview requests from various organizations, mostly sent by the CCP. They had a very clear purpose—to persuade him to join the CCP.
My cousin is an honest man by nature. He is an academic talent with little understanding of CCP politics and its tricks. Soon, he fell into the trap and became a CCP member. He started to teach at a university, made a good salary, and enjoyed a comfortable life. He didn’t know that, by joining the CCP, he had sold his soul to the evil Party.
I asked my cousin once if he really believed in the CCP, but he didn’t give me a clear answer. I encouraged him to bypass the firewall to get uncensored information, but he shied away with all kinds of technical excuses. I planned to make a special trip to his city to persuade him to quit the CCP, but it never happened.
Memories of the Past
Not long before the “April 25” peaceful appeal by 10,000 Falun Gong practitioners in 1999, the assistant at our practice site asked me to attend a sharing conference at Tsinghua University. More than one hundred practitioners were present. The main topic of the conference was how to deal with the police harassment at some practice sites.
Practitioners spoke freely, followed by enthusiastic and orderly discussions. Most speakers shared the view that we should report the harassment to the government as soon as possible to prevent the situation from getting worse.
What impressed me the most was the makeup of the attendees. Speakers would introduce themselves first. Almost all of them were professionals, covering a wide range of fields, from the arts to culture, from education to science and technology. There were also people from military and academic institutions.
It was commonly known at that time that many Falun Gong practitioners in Beijing were intellectuals in the upper class. If they are still practicing Dafa and clarifying the truth to the people in their circles, what a wonderful situation it would be! Intellectuals have always been the pioneers in society, and the direction of the mainstream always has an influential social impact.
During the Oriental Health Expos in Beijing in 1992 and 1993, news spread far and wide, including to government departments and military compounds, that Master Li had come to the expo and was demonstrating extraordinary power in curing illnesses and improving health on the spot.
Master Li gave 54 Falun Dafa Lecture Series in China. Thirteen were held in Beijing alone. The lectures were often given in auditoriums at military institutions, such as the auditorium of the Second Artillery Command. The book Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa, was published in Beijing in 1995, and a grand ceremony to launch it was held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Public Security. The book has now been translated into 40 languages and has spread far and wide around the world.
Beijing is the place where Master taught the Fa most often and where the Falun Gong Research Institute was located. Just imagine what immense blessings people in Beijing would have enjoyed had it not been for the persecution of Falun Gong by the CCP!
Moral Degeneration of Beijingers due to CCP’s Brainwashing
Beijing residents are traditionally known for caring about state affairs and the well-being of the people. However, after Jiang Zemin rose to the top CCP position following the bloody massacre of students on Tiananmen Square on June 4, 1989, Beijing, the ancient capital of six dynasties and a famous historical and cultural city, decayed rapidly into a dark den of evil forces and a place where the CCP exerts the tightest control.
Under the tyranny of the CCP and its coercive brainwashing, people in Beijing have been fooled and become submissive, and their moral standards have dropped sharply.
A great number of Beijingers agreed with the CCP’s slanderous campaign against Falun Gong due to the endless lies and slander pumped out on the radio and television and in newspapers and magazines. They believed the staged “self-immolation on Tiananmen Square” was indeed done by Falun Gong practitioners and signed the so-called “One Million People Petition” against Falun Gong; they echoed the fabricated accusations against Falun Gong at all kinds of criticizing meetings and badmouthed Falun Gong practitioners who risked their lives to clarify the truth to them.
Turning a blind eye and thinking that the persecution of Falun Gong has nothing to do with them already shows who they are as a person, and keeping silent out of self-protection and colluding with the CCP in the persecution makes one an accomplice to the evil.
When people’s hearts have turned bad and their moral standards have fallen, and when they have accumulated a lot of karma, the plague will come knocking on their door. It is therefore not surprising that the entire city of Beijing was infected during the latest wave of the pandemic. As the saying goes, “Plagues have eyes.”
It’s Time to Do More
I have learned from sharing articles on Minghui.org that fellow practitioners in many other places distribute truth-clarification materials on a large scale, from door to door and again and again. Copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party have been delivered to almost all the households in their areas, including those in remote villages and towns.
While I greatly admire those fellow practitioners, I couldn’t help but think that we practitioners in Beijing could do the same.
As far as I know, many people in Beijing still haven’t seen the Nine Commentaries; read other any truth-clarification materials; or received phone calls, letters, or emails clarifying the truth. If the mainstream people in Beijing, especially the intellectual elites who have more say on issues, have access to truth-clarification materials and can get true information by circumventing the firewall, there would be a much bigger impact on society.
I hope that more Dafa disciples in Beijing start to do more by reaching out to those millions of households with truth-clarification materials and encouraging people to quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations.
