(Minghui.org) It’s recently confirmed by Minghui.org that two Tonghua City, Jilin Province residents were secretly sentenced to prison for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Yuhua, 70, and Ms. Yu Guilan, 74, were arrested on February 13, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. The police snatched their keys and raided their homes. Over 150,000 yuan in cash was confiscated from Ms. Liu’s home. Her computer, printer, and other personal items were also confiscated. Ms. Yu had 50,000 yuan in cash seized by the police.
Both women were released on February 14, after the local detention center denied their admission due to their failed physical examination. The police, however, deceived Ms. Liu into going to the police station again on February 18 and arrested her. She has been held at the Changliu Detention Center since. Ms. Yu remained on bail.
The local court secretly tried both women and sentenced Ms. Liu to five years and Ms. Yu to one year with two years probation. Ms. Liu has been taken to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison at the time of writing. The cash confiscated from them has been returned.
Ms. Liu’s husband suffered from stroke complications and he struggled to fend for himself as she is serving time for her faith.
