(Minghui.org) I often go out to tell people about Falun Dafa and how the Chinese regime is persecuting it. Below are a few of the many interesting experiences I have had.

Retired Police Department Chief

One day as I was sitting in a chair outside a shopping center, a man in his 80s came by. He was well dressed and wore a bracelet and rings. We started to chat, and he told me his name was Han and that he was a retired police department chief. He used to have health problems, and then, in his 40s, he had a stroke. But somehow, with a secret potion, he was cured and was now able to walk just fine.

I said he was very lucky because many people—including high officials—had lost their lives in China’s many political campaigns. From the Great Famine (1959-1961) to the Cultural Revolution (1966-1976), there were so many tragedies. Han agreed and said he knew many inside stories about how corrupt the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was. In fact, he had protected monks and nuns during the Cultural Revolution and that was why a nun gave him the recipe for the secret potion. Regarding the persecution of Falun Gong, Han said he had also secretly protected a practitioner. I thanked him and asked if he would renounce his membership in the CCP since it was so terrible. He said he needed some time to think about it.

We met again a few times after that near the shopping center, but he was still hesitant about quitting the Party. Then I did not see him for a while and learned that he was sick. I went to visit him at home and he seemed very pleased. “You know,” he said, “my stay in the hospital cost me over 100,000. I almost died there.”

“Yes,” I replied, “there are many uncertainties in life. The CCP is doomed for the countless sins it has committed. I know you are a good person. But unless a person renounces their membership in it, he or she could end up sinking with the regime when it goes down. What do you say?”

He agreed and said, “Yes.” I gave him an amulet that read “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” He took it and said he would keep the phrases in mind. Before I left, Han said he would donate some money to Falun Gong. I thanked him and explained that we Falun Gong practitioners do not accept donations, and that we printed our materials using our own savings. He was very touched. After that, Han often recited those phrases and he has been healthy ever since.

“Are You a College Professor?”

I met “Lei” near a shopping center. He had been a university vice president and then a cultural bureau director but was now retired. We talked about how the CCP has harmed so many people, including killing 80 million in the Great Famine and all its other political campaigns. “Especially during the Cultural Revolution. All 800 million of us were the CCP’s pawns—we did whatever the CCP told us to, including attack Confucius,” I said. He listened quietly and nodded.

Aware that Lei had been a cultural bureau director, I focused on what the CCP has done to destroy traditional Chinese culture. For example, China once had a deep connection to the divine, but the CCP cut our ties with the divine and even changed the traditional Chinese characters to simplified ones. Lei was very impressed and asked, “Are you a college professor?”

“No, I’m not. In fact, I did not even finish elementary school,” I smiled and replied. “But the Falun Gong teachings are so profound that I’ve learned a great deal and gained wisdom.”

Whenever we met, I would talk with Lei from different angles. In the end, he was glad to quit the CCP organizations.

An Intellectual: Eight Years in Jail for Eight Pieces of Advice

Someone once set up a table near my store to sell things. I went over one day and spoke to one of the vendor’s customers. He told me his name was Shen. He was an intellectual in his 60s, and we shared much common ground, especially when it came to the moral degeneration in China.

For example, former CCP leader Deng Xiaoping once said that it didn't matter if a cat was black or white so long as it caught mice. Although this phrase in itself might seem harmless, the underlying message is alarming: The CCP has no principles and will do whatever it takes to remain in power. For example, it doesn’t care if the funds it collects are honest money, laundered money, or even money from the dead. Similarly, to gain control over the population, the CCP launched one political campaign after another. The regime does not care that 80 million people lost their lives. As long as it can maintain control of the people—through brutality, intimidation, and lies—none of these tragedies or losses is a concern for the regime.

As we spoke about the Cultural Revolution, Shen was emotional and angry.“The Party is heartless. It dragged the entire country into a swamp,” he said. “In the later years of the Cultural Revolution, I wrote a letter to the CCP Central Committee with eight pieces of advice. Because of that, I was jailed for eight years.” It was not until after the havoc ended that his advice was considered and his innocence was re-established. But not everyone was so lucky. Many people were hounded to death.

I pointed out that, in addition to targeting traditional values, the CCP persecutes faiths such as Falun Dafa. Shen agreed. Later on, I gave him a copy of the Nine Commentaries of the Communist Party, and he really liked it. “This book is good because it explains in detail what the Party is. It is right on target and very thorough,” he commented. “I wish every CCP member would read it.” When I said I had more, he asked for 20 copies so that he could give them away to his friends who are CCP members.

A Trash Collector

Shi is from Anhui Province. He was riding his bike near my store looking for trash to collect and sell when I noticed his brakes were not working. I advised him to fix them before he ran into trouble. “If you bump into someone, you might have to pay lots of money. If you lose control and run into a car, it would be even worse. Repairing the brakes would save you lots of money in the long run.” Realizing I was just being kind, Shi was touched and we became friends.

Later on, I explained to him what Falun Dafa is and why the persecution is wrong. He quit the CCP organizations and told his entire family to do the same. He was very thankful and said he would keep in mind “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”

One time I was arrested for practicing Falun Dafa and put in jail. Shi found my family and asked to go with them when they visited me. Over the past 10 years, whenever he returns from visiting his hometown in Anhui Province, Shi brings me some local specialties. I didn’t want to upset him by not accepting them, but I gave him gifts in return. I was happy for Shi because he trusted Falun Dafa and its practitioners.

15 Elderly People and a Computer

Yong is my age and he lives in the countryside. From the time he was young, he knew the CCP was bad. He saw how I was arrested and detained so many times over the years for my belief. He often came to see me and wanted to hear more stories about Falun Dafa. Some of his friends told him not to do that, worried he might be implicated in the persecution. But Yong ignored them. “The Party is ruthless, more rotten than we can even imagine,” he often said.

In addition to learning the facts himself, Yong often asked me for amulets with Falun Dafa phrases on them to give away to his friends and relatives. He also passed on the software I gave him for his grandson to circumvent the internet firewall and access information from overseas. His grandson shared the information with his coworkers, and many of them were also able to access uncensored information.

Yong installed a television adapter to view NTD Television that broadcasts uncensored news from overseas. Later on, he did the same for 14 other elderly residents in the region. When the CCP cracked down on the internet, however, the adapter no longer worked.

Frustrated by this, those 15 elderly residents pooled their money and bought a computer. They learned how to circumvent the internet blockade step by step. Now they read overseas uncensored information every day. “The CCTV only broadcasts lies,” one of them said. “We can trust the information we read here.”

Above are a few of my experiences. I sincerely hope more people in China learn the truth like these people and is not been fooled by the CCP’s hate propaganda.
