(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 36 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province] Ms. Wang Hong Sent to Prison
It was learned on February 1, 2023, that Ms. Wang Hong was transferred from the Lianhu District Detention Center to the Shaanxi Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Wang’s husband worked hard to get her released but passed away in late 2022.
2. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jiao Xiaohua’s Jail Sentence Extended Two More Years
Ms. Jiao Xiaohua from Hulan District was arrested when she talked to people about Falun Gong and was sentenced to two years in prison. The term was extended two more years on March 5, 2023, because her daughter wrote an appeal letter to get her mother released. Ms. Jiao’s daughter Jin Xin worked hard to rescue her mother. After learning the news, her daughter was unable to handle it. She was overcome with grief and died. She was only 39 years old, leaving her six-year-old child without a mother.
3. [Beijing] Ms. Zhang Rui Arrested
Ms. Zhang Rui from the Daxing District was arrested on the afternoon of March 8, 2023. Her home was ransacked.
4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Shan Yonglin and Song Yulian Arrested
Shan Yonglin and Song Yulian (genders unknown) from Shengli Town, Bin County, were arrested. Their whereabouts are unknown.
5. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Sumei Arrested and Detained
Ms. Li Sumei, 55, was reported to the police for pasting stickers in the local residential community and was arrested on September 30, 2022. She was detained for one month in the Shulan City Detention Center and was then transferred to the Jilin City Detention Center. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
6. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Five Practitioners Harassed
Deputy Liu and another officer from the Zhengyang Police Station in Qishan Township went to Ms. Zhang Huayuan’s home. They took some photos and samples of her saliva. They also confiscated three posters, five graphics with blessing messages, and a car hanging.
Officer Bian Zhonghua and another officer from the Qishan Township Police Station went to Ms. Wang Huazhen’s daughter’s home on March 7, 2023. They took samples of her saliva.
Mr. Zhou Qijun, Da Lan (gender unknown), and Ms. Yan Shijun from Sihe Township were also harassed by local police officers. Some Falun Gong books were confiscated.
7. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jin Shujun Arrested
Ms. Jin Shujun was arrested a few days ago and was sent to the Yushu Detention House.
8. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Mr. Zhuang Xiankun and His Wife Ms. Han Yingli Arrested and Detained
Mr. Zhuang Xiankun and his wife Ms. Han Yingli from the Changchun Automobile Factory were arrested by officers from the Xixin Police Station in Luyuan District on February 24, 2023. They were first sent to the Jiutai Detention Center and were later transferred to the Weizigou Detention Center on March 4, 2023.
9. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Officers from the Huachang Police Station went to Zhao Wenli’s home on February 26 and March 5, 2023. They took photos and saliva samples.
Mr. Meng and his daughter were also forcefully photographed by the local police and had samples of their saliva collected.
10. [Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Wu Liwan and Ms. Li Yuwei Harassed
Three people including an officer from the Chigang Police Station, Hou Xuelin, director of the Zhuyuan Neighborhood Committee, and Huang Zhongcheng from a brainwashing center, went to Ms. Wu Liwan’s home on February 24, 2023. They confiscated some Falun Gong books. They also went to Ms. Li Yuwei’s home and ransacked it.
11. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Sha Shuyan Harassed
Three officers from the Guangming Police Station went to Ms. Sha Shuyan’s home on June 14, 2022. They took some photos.
12. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Wang Huihua Arrested
Four officers from the Bianfang Police Station and five officers from the local police department went to Ms. Wang Huihua’s home at 9 a.m. on March 5, 2023. They ransacked her home and confiscated a Falun Gong book, some truth-clarifying materials, and a few old CDs. Ms. Wang was taken to the police station for interrogation and was released that evening.
13. [Gaomi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Xu Xiuzhen and Her Daughter Ms. Qin Shaoying Arrested
Ms. Xu Xiuzhen and her daughter Ms. Qin Shaoying were reported to the police for talking to people about Falun Gong in a market and were arrested by five officers from the Xiazhuang Town Police Station at 10 a.m. on March 3, 2023. They were taken to the police station for interrogation and were released later that day.
14. [Mishan City, Heilongjiang Province] Mr. Yang Xiaoguang Arrested and Detained
Mr. Yang Xiaoguang was arrested at his home by officers from the Limin Police Station and the Mishan City Police Department at 9 p.m. on March 3, 2023. He was threatened by the officers with guns. His home was ransacked. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, some wall posters, his Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings. Mr. Yang was placed under criminal arrest and is currently detained in the Mishan City Detention Center.
Mr. Yang was hospitalized because his stomach bled, and he was recently discharged. His family tried to bring him some clothes but they were not allowed. The family was told to send money to the detention center. They paid more than 800 yuan in a few days but have not received any receipts.
15. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Nine Practitioners Persecuted
Ms. Wang Xiuying from Fulongquan Town, Nong’an County, was detained for five days and will be released on March 8, 2023.
Five practitioners, Wang Xiuying, Li Minglan, Shao Benlan, Liu Guixin, and Xiao Changyun, were arrested on March 3, 2023. Their cell phones have not been returned by the Fulongquan Town Police Station.
Zhao Hongfen lives in the No. 3 Team, Dongdianzi Village, Fulongquan Town, Nong’an County. Zhao was arrested by officers from the Fulongquan Town Police Station on the morning of March 9, 2023. Two other practitioners were harassed at their homes.
16. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Qiuhua Passed Away
Ms. Liu Qiuhua, 70, from Xinzhuangzi Village, Shengcheng Sub-district, passed away on February 15, 2023. Her family claimed that she had a stroke (cerebral hemorrhage). According to the other villagers, Ms. Liu’s body was covered with bruises.
17. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Wang Jinfeng and Ms. Li Fengzhi Sentenced to Four Years and Three Years in Prison Respectively
Ms. Wang Jinfeng and Ms. Li Fengzhi were arrested by officers from the Huanghe Police Station in the Guanggu District on February 19, 2022. They were sentenced by the Yuhong District Court on September 19, 2022. Ms. Wang Jinfeng was sentenced to four years in prison and fined 5000 yuan; Ms. Li Fengzhi was sentenced to three years and fined 5000 yuan. They appealed to the intermediate court. The original verdicts were upheld by the Shenyang City Intermediate Court on November 24, 2022.
The two practitioners have been detained in the No.1 Detention Center of Shenyang City for over a year. They will be taken to prison soon. Ms. Wang Jinfeng developed symptoms of high blood pressure, high blood sugar, and heart problems. Ms. Li Fengzhi began losing her eyesight again.
18. [Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Nan Minmin Sentenced to Five and a Half Years in Prison
Ms. Nan Minmin, 66, was arrested on May 29, 2020. She was first taken to the Luohu Detention Center, and then the No. 3 Detention Center of Shenzhen City. She was taken to the Yantian Detention Center on March 25, 2021. Ms. Nan was sentenced to five and a half years in prison on March 25, 2021. She appealed but the verdict was upheld by the Shenzhen Intermediate Court. Ms. Nan was transferred to the Longgang New Detention Center in September 2021, and then to the Guangzhou Women’s Prison in February 2023.
Ms. Nan has been sentenced twice to a total of 10 years since the CCP began persecuting Falun Gong.
19. [Jing County, Hebei Province] Ms. Cui Yongfen Sentenced to Three Years and Three Months in Prison
Ms. Cui Yongfen, 62, was arrested by officers from the Tiancun Police Station and the Haidian District Police Department on July 2, 2021. She was later sentenced to three years and three months in prison by the Haidian District Court. She was detained in the Dispatch Division in Tianhe Prison before being transferred to a prison in Tangshan City after the 2023 Chinese New Year.
