1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Chunjie Missing After 15-Day Detention
Ms. Zhang Chunjie, 59, and her husband were arrested around 9:00 a.m. on February 19, 2023, by four officers from the Dongzhan Police Station. Their books and other belongings were confiscated. Her husband was released that night, but Ms. Zhang was given a 15-day administrative detention. Her family does not know where she is. They only know that officers from the police station took her from the detention center for a physical exam as soon as her term was over, and her administrative detention was changed to criminal detention.
2. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Eight Practitioners Still Detained
Thirteen practitioners from the Beilin District were arrested around 3:00 p.m. on August 27, 2022, by agents from the Beilin District 610 Office and officers from the Beilin Police Station. The practitioners were Mr. Zhang Lianqing, Ms. Liu Guiying (Mr. Zhang’s wife), Mr. Zhang Fengming, 32, (Mr. Zhang and Ms. Liu’s son), Ms. Liu Lianbo, Ms. Li Xiaomin, Ms. Bai Yajuan, Ms. Zhu Xiuhua, Ms. Zheng Lanqin (in her 70s), Ms. Wang Qiuyan, Ms. Guo Junxia, Ms. Lang Cuixiang, and Ms. Li Yanhui. Three of them were taken to the Suihua City Detention Center and the others to the Suihua City Detention House. Eight of them are still detained.
The cases against eight practitioners, including Ms. Bai, were submitted on September 20, 2022, to the Hailun City Procuratorate, which approved their arrests.
Ms. Zheng Lanqin was released on bail but was arrested at home and taken to the Suihua Detention House again in mid-March 2023 by agents from the Beilin District 610 Office. It was said that she was sentenced to three years in prison,
3. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Mr. Jia Jianhuai Faces Trial
Mr. Jia Jianhuai was arrested on September 8, 2021. Officer Ma Zhanxian from the Tuanjiexincun Police Station called him and told him to pick up his cell phone at the police station. He was arrested as soon as he arrived. He has since been held in the Lanzhou City No. 3 Detention Center. He will be tried in the Chengguan District Court on April 6, 2023.
4. [Xianghe County, Hebei Province] Mr. Zhang Xian and Mr. Wang Zhishan Face Trial
Mr. Zhang Xian and Mr. Wang Zhishan were notified by clerks with the Criminal Court of the Xianghe Court that their trials were scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on March 28, 2023.
5. [Shanghai] Li Hong Faces Indictment
The case against Li Hong was submitted to the Jingan District Court in March 2023. Li is being held in the Putuo District Detention Center.
6. [Lanzhou City, Gansu Province] Ms. Zhang Ping Faces Trial
Ms. Zhang Ping’s family received a notification from the Chengguan District Court that her trial was scheduled for April 6, 2023.
She was stalked and arrested by plainclothes officers from the Lanzhou City Police Department on May 9, 2022, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. She was taken to the fifth floor of the police department. On May 11, she was admitted to the 11th Team of the Jiuzhou No. 1 Detention Center. On the evening of May 16, she was handcuffed and shackled behind her back for doing the Falun Gong exercises in her cell by the guard team leader. The torture lasted 22 days and ended on June 1. She was given little water each day. Guards refused to let anyone help her, even when she needed to use the toilet. She is still there. She is now emaciated and her hair has turned white.
7. [Zoucheng City, Shandong Province] Mr. Si Xiaohong and Ms. Yang Huaihua Sentenced
Mr. Si Xiaohong’s home was ransacked by Guoli Police Station officers on October 27, 2021, after someone reported him for distributing Falun Gong calendars. He was sentenced to four years in prison while his wife, Ms. Yang Huaihua, was sentenced to three years. Both of them are now in prison.
8. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Xianhong Sentenced
Ms. Yu Xianhong stayed home to take care of her 92-year-old father-in-law while her husband worked out of town. She was arrested by officers from the Shulan City Police Department and the Domestic Security Division on August 23, 2022. They put her Falun Gong books on a bed and forced her father-in-law to point to them. They photographed him doing that and fingerprinted him. Ms. Yu was sentenced to one year in prison. Her father-in-law wept after she was arrested and was worried about her safety. He died in January 2023.
9. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Ms. Yang Huiru Sentenced
Ms. Yang Huiru, 65, was falsely charged by the Kaifu District police and prosecutors. She was sentenced to one year in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.
10. [Fushun City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Jing and Mr. Wang Xiuguo Sentenced
Ms. Sun Jing and Mr. Wang Xiuguo were tried in the Shuncheng Court on the morning of November 25, 2022. The court notified their lawyers on March 21, 2023, that they were each sentenced to 18 months in prison and fined 5,000 yuan.
11. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Sun Yan Detained Over a Year
Ms. Sun Yan, 62, was arrested by Taoyuanlu Police Station officers in early March 2022 for distributing Falun Gong flyers in the Taoyuanlu Community. She has since been held in the Changchun No. 4 Detention Center.
12. [Beijing] Mr. Gao Yu Detained
Mr. Gao Yu of the Miyun District and his four-year-old daughter Ranran were arrested at home by two officers around 5:00 p.m. on February 6, 2023. They were taken to the Xibinhe Police Station. The daughter was released to a family member that night. Mr. Gao went on a hunger strike for three days. The officers said they would release him if he signed documents denouncing Falun Gong. He refused.
13. [Dai County, Shanxi Province] Mr. Liu Ruixing Arrested
Mr. Liu Ruixing was arrested on February 27, 2023, for talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong.
14. [Changsha City, Hunan Province] Mr. Zhang Mingde in Police Custody
Mr. Zhang Mingde, 72, was arrested at home by three officers on the evening of March 20, 2023. He is being held in the Pozijie Police Station.
15. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yanqing Detained
Ms. Liu Yanqing of Zhangbei County was arrested by Beijing police on February 26, 2023 when she distributed Falun Gong fliers in Chawu Village in the Huairou District of Beijing. She is being held in the Mentougou Detention Center.
16. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yin Yanfeng Detained
Ms. Yin Yanfeng was harassed at home by director Shi Liang, officer Liu Yanhui, and three other officers from the Shanghewan Police Station on the afternoon of March 5, 2023. They ransacked her place and seized 22 Falun Gong books, a picture of Falun Gong’s founder, and her cell phone. They failed to take her away because her family intervened. They told her she could get her confiscated items at the police station the next day. But when she went, they arrested her and gave her a ten-day detention. She was held in the Changchun City Detention Center. After she was released, she went to the police station for her confiscated items. Officer Song Jianyu took Ms. Yin’s hat off and photographed her.
17. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Li Mianzhen Harassed
Ms. Li Mianzhen’s family received a call from the Xiaojingyu Police Station. An officer ordered Ms. Li to report to the police station, saying that the case against her from last year was still open. The family replied that she was out of town. The officers kept calling the family and demanding that she return as soon as possible.
Ms. Li and two other practitioners were arrested by Xiaojingyu Police Station officers on August 29, 2022, when they were talking to people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Officers ransacked their homes but did not find anything they wanted. The practitioners were placed under house arrest.
18. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Huang Yiqin and His Wife Ms. Guo Arrested
Mr. Huang Yiqin, who works in the Hubei Province Agricultural Sciences Institute, and his wife, Ms. Guo, were arrested by Jiangsu Province police when they were driving in Jiangsu Province.
19. [Miyi County, Sichuan Province] Mr. Luo Banglin Imprisoned
Mr. Luo Banglin, a 40-year-old veteran, was arrested at home on March 15, 2022, and sentenced to three years by the Miyi County Court on December 23, 2022. He was admitted to Jiazhou Prison on March 15, 2023.
