(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 37 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Zhucheng City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Sentenced to Prison
Five practitioners including Ms. Sun Peiying, Ms. Chi Guilan, Ms. Chen Xiulan, Ms. Ma Shuyan, and Mr. Liu Zhaoqing, were arrested on June 29, 2021. Their homes were ransacked.
Their cases were submitted to the procuratorate by Hao Xiaojun from the Zhucheng City Police Department. They were tried in the Gaomi City Court on March 24, 2023. Ms. Sun Peiying, 54, was sentenced to eighteen months in prison and fined 4000 yuan; Ms. Chi Guilan, 74, was sentenced to eighteen months in prison and fined 4000 yuan; Mr. Liu Zhaoqing, 63, was sentenced to one year and two months in prison and fined 3000 yuan; Ms. Chen Xiulan, 59, was sentenced to one year and two months in prison and fined 3000 yuan; and Ms. Ma Shuyan, 61, was sentenced to one year probation and fined 2000 yuan. Ms. Sun, Ms. Chi, Mr. Liu and Ms. Chen appealed in court. They are currently detained in the Weifang City Detention Center.
2. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Li Guiping and Ms. Jiang Kuihua Arrested
Ms. Li Guiping from Guhetou Village and Ms. Jiang Kuihua from the Yingcuicheng Residential Community were arrested on the morning of April 30, 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Zhougezhuang Market. Their homes were ransacked. They are currently held in the Laixi City Detention House.
3. [Huanren County, Liaoning Province] Ms. Fan Jingzhi Arrested
Ms. Fan Jingzhi from the lead mine in Huanren County was arrested by officers from the Lead Mine Police Station on April 26, 2023.
4. [Shantou City, Guangdong Province] Ms. Zheng Lijuan Arrested
Ms. Zheng Lijuan who lives in the Jinping District was arrested by officers in the Jinping District on April 26, 2023.
5. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Jing Arrested
Ms. Ma Jing from Anshan City stays with her daughter who lives in Xiaoshan District, Hangzhou City. She was arrested by officers from the Xianghu Police Station on April 29, 2023 for distributing information about Falun Gong.
6. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Chen Qinglan and Ms. Zhao Changyan Arrested and Detained
Ms. Chen Qinglan was taken to a prison on March 2, 2023. Her salary was suspended.
Ms. Zhao Changyan was arrested on March 16, 2023 and she was sent to the Jilin City Detention Center. Her salary has been suspended since March 2023.
7. [Zhongshan City, Guangdong Province] Mr. Cheng Panfeng Arrested and Detained
Mr. Cheng Panfeng was tricked by a leader in his workplace and was arrested by officers from the East District Police Department and the Zhuyuan Police Station around 5 p.m. on April 27, 2023. His home was ransacked. He was interrogated in the police station and then transferred to the South District Detention Center the next day. His family was not allowed to visit him.
8. [Rizhao City, Shandong Province] Five Practitioners Tried in Court
Five practitioners including Ms. Li Fengying, Ms. Zheng Yunmei, Wang Shihua, Mr. Wang Hongwu, and Ms. Yang Mingzhen, were tried in the Rizhao City Detention Center by the Wulian County Court on April 28, 2023. Two lawyers defended the innocence of the practitioners and pointed out the following: The prosecutor’s evidence had nothing to do with the case; the police had no search warrant when they ransacked their homes; the police failed to count the seized items and intimidated the accused, etc. The hearing lasted for nearly six hours. The next court session was scheduled at 10 a.m., May 8, 2023.
9. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Zhao Ronghua Harassed
Four officers, led by Yao, deputy of the Chengdong Township Police Station, went to Ms. Zhao Ronghua’s home on the morning of April 18, 2023. They searched her home and summoned her to the police station, which caused her husband to panic. He is nearly 90 years old and is not well.
10. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] 12 Practitioners Harassed
The police in Changchun City forcibly collected the personal information and took saliva samples from practitioners in March 2023.
The following practitioners were harassed by officers from the Gaojiadian Police Station in Nong’an County. They are Ms. Zhu Shuyun, Ms. Qu Fengxia, Ms. Gao Fengli, Ms. Liu Yuhua, Ms. Feng Xiuying, Ms. Fan Guizhi, and Ms. Yu Guixia.
Officers from the Xiaochengzi Police Station harassed practitioners including Xie Yonghua, Mr. Du Jinfeng, Ms. Wei Xiangqin, Ms. Li Guiqin, and Ms. Cao Shuyun.
11. [Jiaozuo City, Henan Province] Ms. Du Farong Arrested and Detained
Ms. Du Farong, 74, was arrested at home by several officers in Zhongzhan District on the afternoon of April 17, 2023 for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Ms. Du has been detained in the Jiaozuo City Detention Center.
12. [Wuhan City, Hubei Province] Mr. Wang Xiaoshun’s Pension Withheld
Mr. Wang Xiaoshun from Machi Community in Dongxihu District was detained in prison for three years. His pension has been withheld since April 2023.
