(Minghui.org) The wind was blowing and the sun was shining brightly in Calgary, Canada, on Sunday, May 7, 2023. A group of Falun Dafa practitioners gathered at Prince’s Island Park to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, which is also the 31st anniversary of the introduction of Falun Dafa to the world.
Practitioners demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises and gave waist drum performances. Many passersby stopped in their tracks and gave rounds of warm applause. Practitioners also distributed fliers to introduce Falun Dafa to them. Many people took photos and videos, and came over to practitioners to ask for more information. Many people learned about Dafa and expressed their condemnation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s evil acts in persecuting Falun Dafa.

“YGZ Lewis” channel podcaster Mr. Lewis is a China expert who came from England. He happened to be passing through Prince’s Island Park when he saw Falun Dafa practitioners doing the meditation. He was very interested. He even took many videos at the scene.
“I really object to the CCP. I really object to the CCP’s persecution of people who are practicing the exercises and doing the meditation. I really detest the CCP’s persecution of these cultivators and people who choose to have freedom in their beliefs,” he said. “I feel that no matter what people believe in, this is their right and freedom as long as no one is being hurt due to their belief. I am very happy to meet these Falun Dafa practitioners today and I wish them happiness!”
University Professor: Nobody Should Be Persecuted Because of Their Belief
University of Calgary professor Glen Dolphin objects to the persecution.
University of Calgary professor Glen Dolphin knew that the celebration was being held at Prince’s Island Park, so he brought his whole family to see it. He also knew that Falun Dafa practitioners are suffering from persecution in China.
“Nobody should be persecuted for their belief,” he said. “I hope that everyone can live in harmony and follow their own will to live their lives. Therefore, I also do not hope to see Falun Dafa practitioners suffer from persecution in China due to their belief.”
Resident: Hope the Persecution Ends as Soon as Possible
Mr. Argel, who lives nearby, is originally from the Philippines. He has lived in Calgary for 15 years. He was very happy to receive a small lotus keepsake printed with the words “Falun Dafa is Good.” He said that he has seen the Falun Dafa waist drum troupe at the Stampede Parade in Victoria and Calgary. He had also heard about the CCP’s persecution of Falun Dafa. He hopes that the persecution will end as soon as possible.
Ms. Sari is a science doctoral student at the University of Bern in Switzerland. She was in the middle of her tour of North America with a mechanical engineer, Mr. Marco. This was the first time that they had heard of Falun Dafa and when they heard that countless Chinese people are being cruelly persecuted due to their cultivation in Falun Dafa, for abiding by the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, and practicing the exercises, they were shocked. They understood that Falun Dafa became popular because of its ability to get rid of illnesses and give people healthy bodies and that the CCP’s persecution was due to its jealousy of Falun Dafa.
Mr. Tian is a Falun Dafa practitioner who just moved to Calgary from China. He was full of emotion as he participated in the celebratory event at Prince’s Island Park.
“In Canada, practitioners can play loud percussion instruments in the park under the bright sunshine to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day. They do not need to worry about being captured by the police. This really feels very good,” he said.
Mr. Tian said he believes that in the near future, Falun Dafa practitioners in China will definitely be able to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day openly in public, just like practitioners in Canada.
