(Minghui.org) Today’s news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 14 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 25 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Chongqing] Ms. Xu Xiaoqin Sentenced to Prison
Ms. Xu Xiaoqin from Yongchuan District was sentenced to three years and six months in prison. Her family was not notified of the trial date and the trial was held in secret. Ms. Xu has appealed the sentencing. Further details are not available.
2. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Cong Tortured in Prison
Ms. Li Cong was severely abused in Jilin Province Women’s Prison. Now, she needs help to stand up or walk. Her back is bent at a 90-degree angle due to her injuries. She needs two people to support her when she walks, and she cannot take care of herself. When she uses the toilet, she has to put a small stool in front of her and lean on it for support.
3. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Hou Held in Detention Center
A practitioner surnamed Hou was arrested by the Jinyuan District police last week. Hou is being held in the Taiyuan City No. 2 Detention Center in Beige Town, Xiaodian District.
4. [Nanchang County, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Wei Ximei’s Home Ransacked
Wang Haijun and three other officers from the Liantang Town Domestic Security Division broke into Ms. Wei Ximei’s home and ransacked it around 7 p.m. on March 14, 2023. They tore off the couplets and traditional Chinese caligraphy on her door, and confiscated photos of Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa), two copies of Zhuan Falun, and Master Li’s lectures given in various places.
5. [Suihua City, Heilongjiang Province] Multiple Practitioners Arrested
Officers from the Zhennan Police Station in Suiling County broke into Ms. Qian Zhihua’s home around 8 p.m. on April 5, 2023, and arrested her and three other practitioners: Li Kai, Zhang Mingli, and Fu Guixiang. The officers destroyed Ms. Qian’s door and window. All four practitioners’ homes were ransacked.
That afternoon, Mr. Gu Yanwen was arrested while he was out. At midnight, more than twelve officers from the County and Forestry Bureau tore open the roll-up door to his home and ransacked the place. A practitioner surnamed Feng is now missing.
On April 8, a site was ransacked where information about Falun Gong was produced. All the printed materials were confiscated, and a four-wheeled cart and a container for feeding cattle were also taken away.
Between April 8 and April 20, several practitioners were arrested or harassed at home. Those arrested were released the same day. Ms. Fu Guixiang was taken to the hospital when she developed illness symptoms, and has since returned home. Ms. Zhang Mingli was detained for 15 days and has now returned home.
6. [Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Zhang Liwen and Zhou Linyan Arrested
Ms. Zhang Liwen, 81, and Zhou Linyan, over 70 years old, from Wanbolin District were arrested by officers from the Jiancaoping Police Station for telling people about Falun Gong on April 28, 2023. The officers ransacked Zhou’s home. Zhou returned home at 1 p.m. that day.
7. [Huangshi City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Dongxiu Arrested
Ms. Wang Dongxiu and a practitioner surnamed Li were arrested and their homes were ransacked on the morning of April 25, 2023, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Both practitioners are being held in the Huangshi City Detention Center.
8. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Three Practitioners Harassed
Mr. Xie Wenzhong, 77, from Hedong New District, is frequently harassed by officers from the Ciyin Police Station and Jieling Community Management Office personnel for his steadfast belief in Falun Dafa.
On April 13, 2023, Ms. Tang Suqiong, 66, and her daughter-in-law in Hedong New District were harassed three times by officers from the Ciyin Police Station. Ms. Chen Changping, 71, and two family members were also harassed by officers from the Chengnan Police Station.
9. [Ruichang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Zhu Xiaomei’s Daughter Harassed
Because Ms. Zhu Xiaomei practices Falun Gong, her daughter has been under pressure at work. Ms. Zhu was released on bail last year and her case will be reviewed on May 4, 2023. If she does not sign certain paperwork, she will be taken to the procuratorate and tried.
10. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Wang Xiaoning Held in Detention Center
Wang Xiaoning was held in Shenyang City No. 1 Detention Center.
11. [Shenyang City, Liaoning Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Li Zhijie, Liu Chunjie, and Meng Qingxia from Faku County were arrested at Li’s home at 6:30 p.m. on April 23, 2023, by five or six officers from the Wutaizi Police Station.
The officers confiscated 51 copies of Falun Gong books, a computer, a cell phone, and paper bills with information about Falun Gong printed on them from Li’s home. Jia’s cell phone was also confiscated.
12. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Ms. Liu Jingshu Taken to Prison
Ms. Liu Jingshu from Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, was sentenced to eight years in prison by the Jianxi District Court in Luoyang City, Henan Province. She was taken to the Henan Province Women’s Prison on April 25, 2023.
13. [Chongqing] Ms. Duan Zaiying Released from Detention Center
Ms. Duan Zaiying from Banan District was reported to the police when she talked to people about Falun Gong at Minghualongzhou Vegetable Market in Longzhou Bay, Banan District, on April 29, 2021. She was arrested by officers from the Longzhouwan Police Station, and held in the Jieshi Detention Center in Banan District. She was tried eighteen months later. The Jiulongpo District Court sentenced Ms. Duan to two years in prison. Ms. Duan appealed to the Chongqing City No. 5 Intermediate Court.
She returned home on April 28, 2023.
14. [Xishui County, Hubei Province] Ms. Nan Tianju Held in Detention Center
Ms. Nan Tianju was arrested on April 7, 2023 at her home in Wuhan City, by officers from the Huangpi District Domestic Security Division and the Hengdian Police Station. She was taken to a lockup center. On April 22, she was transferred to the Wuhan City No. 1 Detention Center.
15. [Donggang City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Hua Arrested
Ms. Sun Hua from Majiadian Town was reported to the police while talking to people about Falun Gong at the Beijingzi Town farmers market on April 25, 2023. She was arrested by the Beijingzi Town border police. At around 11:30 a.m., nine officers went to her home and ransacked the place. They confiscated Falun Gong books, Minghui Weekly, and photos of the founder of Falun Gong.
Around noon, they took Ms. Sun to the Domestic Security Division. In the afternoon they took her for a physical examination and charged her 1,600 yuan. The officers demanded an additional payment of 1,000 yuan, and told her that her family would not be allowed to visit her until she made the payment.
The police pressured Ms. Sun to write guarantee statements (to give up practicing Falun Gong), which she refused. She is being held in the Dandong City Detention Center. No family visits have been allowed.
16. [Qingdao City, Shandong Province] Elderly Ms. Zhao Arrested
Elderly Ms. Zhao from the Fushanhou area in Shibei District was arrested around April 24, 2023. She was arrested last year but was promptly released.
17. [Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Ma Guijie Detained
Ms. Ma Guijie from Linghai City went to her son’s home in Dalian City two years ago to take care of her grandson.
Around 3 p.m. on April 25, 2023, she went to the Linghai City Dalian High-speed Railway Station to return home. The rail station officers searched her bag, found items related to Falun Gong, and arrested her. Ms. Ma was detained for five days and returned home on April 30.
