(Minghui.org) Practitioners introduced Falun Dafa to local residents during an informational event in Balatonfüred on Saturday, August 12, 2023. This marks the first time they held an event in the town, and they were warmly received.
Balatonfüred is the oldest resort town on the northern shore of Lake Balaton and a cultural center that draws tourists from across Hungary. Practitioners set up a booth in the old town center of Balatonfüred, next to the bustling Balatonfüred Market, to hand out flyers and collect signatures on a petition calling on the Hungarian government to formally condemn the persecution of Falun Dafa in China.

Many passersby took the flyers which introduced Falun Dafa and described the persecution in China. They said that this was the first time they had heard about the persecution and the information was important. Some were appalled by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) forced organ harvesting from Falun Dafa practitioners, and supported the practitioners by signing the petition. People from different parts of Hungary signed, including Csopak, Pápa, Veszprém, or Pécs in addition to Balatonfüred.

Director of the Market Encourages Practitioners
In setting up the event, the practitioners worked with István Németh, the director of the Balatonfüred Market, to secure a location for their booth. Németh personally selected the best location, and later said that he was very pleased to have been able to meet practitioners and help them.
This is the first time that he had heard of Falun Dafa and said, “I see how peaceful practitioners are, and that Falun Dafa is really upright and great.”
He wished practitioners success in introducing their practice to more people.
Doctor Couple Sign Petition to End Organ Harvesting
A couple who were both doctors in Balatonfüred went to the booth after receiving a flyer about the persecution. The man was shocked to learn how the CCP removes organs from living practitioners and sells them. “As a doctor, I of course deeply condemn the practice of forced organ harvesting. This is totally unacceptable and I will definitely sign your petition,” he said.
He also found it very moving that practitioners were volunteers who participated in these events out of their sense of righteousness, not as paid members of an organization. His wife also commented on the inhumanity of forced organ harvesting after she signed the petition. “It is shocking to me that something like this can exist, and it absolutely needs to be stopped,” she said.
Found What She’s Looking For

Marika who lives in Balatonfüred, signed the petition after practitioners told her about the persecution in China. She told the practitioners that she was very happy to meet them as she had been looking for a practice to guide her own spiritual development and that Falun Dafa’s teachings matched what she was looking for.
“I was looking for a Buddhist teaching, and I’m sure I didn’t meet you by accident. I really like this practice. I would definitely like to get to know it better,” she said. She was very interested in learning Falun Dafa and asked for the practitioners’ contact information so that she could learn the exercises.
The practitioners also gave her a URL link to, “How Humankind Came To Be,” an article by Falun Dafa’s founder, Master Li Hongzhi. She was happy to receive it and said she was looking forward to reading it.
Balatonfüred is the fifth stop, after Siófok, in a series of informational events planned by Hungarian Falun Dafa practitioners. The next stop will be Salgótarján in northeast Hungary, bordering Slovakia, to introduce Falun Dafa to residents there.
