(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 6 cities or counties in 4 provinces, where at least 17 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Wenmei Harassed
2. [Nanning City, Guangxi Province] Liao Wenchuang Arrested
3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Eleven Practitioners Persecuted
4. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Xuemei Released
5. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Detained
6. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yu Fangzhuang Taken to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison
1. [Shouguang City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Wenmei Harassed
Ms. Zhang Wenmei, in her 80s, lives in Zhangjianqiao Village in the Shengcheng Sub-district. A plainclothes officer observed her distributing calendars on December 15, 2023. The police were called in and searched her. They confiscated three calendars but didn’t arrest her.
Two officers from the Zhangjianqiao Police Station went to Ms. Zhang’s home on December 28, 2023, to take a sample of her blood.
2. [Nanning City, Guangxi Province] Liao Wenchuang Arrested
Wei Caisong from the Jiangnan District Police Department and other officers staked out near Liao Wenchuang’s home on July 16, 2023, monitored anyone who visited him. They broke into Liao’s home and arrested Liao. They ransacked the place and confiscated five computers, photos of Falun Gong’s founder, Falun Gong books, and other items.
3. [Shulan City, Jilin Province] Eleven Practitioners Persecuted
Several practitioners were harassed or arrested from November 30 to early December 2023. Ms. Chen Yuhuan, whose blood pressure was very high, was taken to a detention house. Ms. Gong Xiuyun from Xihe was arrested and detained. Ms. Cheng Xiuxia was escorted back from Zibo City, Shandong Province, by officers from the Beicheng Police Station and detained.
Ms. Du Guiru was arrested by Beicheng Police Station officers and detained for 15 days. Ms. Zhao Jinxia from Kaiyuan was detained.
Six practitioners were harassed by the police: Zhou Yanxia, Yang Yuzhi, Shao Guizhi, Ms. Li Chunzhen and her husband Mr. Ma Zhanshan, and Tao Yuqing
4. [Yushu City, Jilin Province] Ms. Jiang Xuemei Released
Ms. Jiang Xuemei was detained for six months and released on December 26, 2023. She was sentenced to one year in prison with one year of probation.
5. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested and Detained
Mr. Lu Jianjun was arrested at his shop by Dongying Police Department officers at 9:30 a.m. on November 29, 2023. The police ransacked his shop and his home. They confiscated a laptop, a customer’s laptop, a color printer, some truth clarifying materials, among other things. Mr. Lu was held for one month in the Dongying City Detention Center and released on December 29, 2023.
Ms. Lu Chunhua and Ms. Wang Yanyun were also arrested on November 29, 2023. They were held for one month in the Dongying City Detention Center and released on December 29, 2023.
6. [Nanchang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Yu Fangzhuang Taken to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison
Ms. Yu Fangzhuang, 90, was sentenced to six months on December 21, 2020, but was told she would be allowed to serve time outside of prison due to her age. The Xihu District Domestic Security Office notified her on November 14, 2023, to have a physical exam in preparation for her prison admission. Her son accompanied her to the hospital for the checkup. The police seized her from her home on the night of November 21, 2023. She was taken to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison on December 5, 2023.
