(Minghui.org) As a Falun Dafa practitioner, I found that the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance apply to our daily lives, including every single thought we have when things come up. The following are three incidents and their different outcomes I have experienced.
The first incident occurred last year when I went to pick up my child at school on my bike. I was hit by a car that turned in front of me at an intersection. I landed on my head and rolled to my side.
The driver got out of his car and began to blame me for the accident. I replied, “I had the right of way, I was going straight, and you were turning.” He picked up my bike, which was severely damaged. My legs were both turning black and blue. Considering myself a Dafa practitioner, I knew I would be fine and let him go. The bruising lasted a few days. The bike was totaled.
The second incident happened this past spring. I picked up my child and headed home on my bike. While going downhill a motorized bike suddenly jumped out in front of me and stopped in the middle of the road. I did not have time to stop, and we collided, throwing both my child and me to the ground. I was not upset since I knew he did that to avoid a collision, although he misjudged the situation.
With that thought, we surprisingly had no injuries and my bike was fine. I was not even dirty from the fall. I knew it was because I considered others first.
The third incident was related to resentment. I took my daughter to visit my father in the countryside in August. She developed a stomachache, so I gave her some warm water, but that did not help. I asked her to recite “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” but she still had pain. We tried for a while longer and the pain continued.
My father then called out from another room, “How come you keep crying?” He did not come out to check on my daughter, and I was upset with his reaction. My daughter had been crying for a long time, but my father did not seem to care at all. He was being selfish!
After a while, I realized that as a practitioner I should look within. Why did I experience this? Is there something for me to improve? Thinking about my father, I knew he had experienced poor health for a while and it worried him. So I tried negating the resentment and eliminating the selfish thoughts I had. As I shared this thought with my daughter, she suddenly looked happy, and said, “Mom, the pain is gone!”
Master Li, the founder of Falun Dafa, said:
“You must completely dispose of the desires of everyday people, immoral thoughts, and the intention to do bad things. With every bit of improvement in your state of mind, some bad things will be eliminated from your body.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
I am very grateful to Falun Dafa and Master Li for helping me to constantly improve myself.
