(Minghui.org) Cultivation practice is very serious and we need to pay attention to small things and every one of our thoughts. I’d like to share a few examples.
Having Fear vs. Paying Attention to Safety
Ling was arrested for clarifying the facts about Falun Dafa, so when she was released she told Dong, “Our area is dangerous. We should just stay home and study the teachings. Don’t go out and talk to people about Falun Dafa.”
Dong said, “We absolutely need to study the Fa well and pay attention to safety. But I’m afraid it’s not right to stop clarifying the facts because of that.”
Ling realized Dong was right, and she continued to tell people about Falun Dafa and the importance of quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She returned a few days later with a list of names of people who agreed to quit the CCP organizations. This time she told Dong, “We’ve been doing this (helping people quit the CCP) every day. I don’t know why we have to do it.”
Dong reminded her, “This is something Master (the founder of Falun Dafa) asked us to do. Why do you think it’s not necessary? After all, so many Chinese people have been brainwashed by the CCP and will be in danger when history phases out the regime. Some practitioners have been doing this for more than ten years and others for nearly 20 years. They’ve never stopped because they know how important it is.”
Since then, Ling has been diligently going out almost every day to clarify the facts to people and urge them to quit the CCP.
Only One Cultivation Way
Qing’s family practiced Buddhism for generations, and she inherited her parents’ Buddhist statues, which she placed next to Master’s portrait. She said she invited Master’s fashen (Law bodies) to consecrate the statues by doing as Master taught in Zhuan Falun. But another practitioner reminded her that Dafa has only one Master and it wasn’t appropriate to have Buddha statues next to Master’s portrait. When she paid respect to Master, wasn’t she also venerating those Buddhas? Qing understood and donated the Buddha statues to a temple.
Having Faith in Master Instead of Acknowledging Sickness Karma
Qiao, in her 70s, recently developed symptoms of diabetes. Her vision quickly got worse and she had difficulty caring for herself. When Kang visited her, Qiao said, “If this is how I have to repay my karma, I will just accept it.”
Kang reminded her that, as Fa-rectification period Dafa practitioners, we all have missions to fulfill. If Qiao went blind, it must be the old forces’ arrangements that were interfering with her. Therefore, she must not acknowledge it. Qiao agreed. She strengthened her righteous thoughts and put more time and effort into studying Master’s teachings and doing the exercises. Her vision quickly improved.
Cultivation of Speech
Fang got upset when several practitioners spoke to her disrespectfully in front of others. When she complained about it, Rong reminded her that Fang should view this as a good thing as those practitioners were helping her improve. “I don’t need their help!” Fang blurted out. But as soon as the words left her mouth, Fang regretted it because she remembered what Master taught. After all, if Master arranged the test, wouldn’t she then be declining Master’s help? She looked within and soon got over it after identifying her numerous attachments.
A married couple was plagued with difficult and unending tribulations with their children. The husband said, “I’d rather find myself a rope and hang myself. I don’t want to deal with this anymore.” The wife thought the same and even asked if she could die first. After other practitioners heard about it, they reminded the couple that they had to cultivate their speech and shouldn’t ask for tribulations, not to mention that committing suicide is against the Falun Dafa teachings. The couple realized that they shouldn’t have avoided the problems with their children. Rather, they should face them and resolve them following Dafa’s teachings. They have since improved significantly and those tribulations hardly bother them anymore.
