(Minghui.org) A Jinan City, Shandong Province resident is facing indictment for his faith in Falun Gong by the authorities in Bengbu City, Anhui Province.

Mr. Leng Xiaocheng, 37, was arrested at home at around 6 p.m. on April 11, 2024, by officers from the Meilihu Police Station in Jinan and their counterparts from the Guzhen County Police Department in Bengbu City, more than 250 miles away. He was later escorted to Bengbu and held at the Bengbu City Detention Center. It’s not clear why the police in Bengbu were involved in his case.

The Bengbu police submitted Mr. Leng’s case to the Guzhen County Procuratorate in Bengbu City on July 17. It was confirmed on July 23 that the prosecutor returned his case to the police, citing insufficient evidence. The police later re-submitted the case at an unknown date. The prosecutor is now in the process of transferring the case to the Huaishang District Procuratorate, which is designated to handle Falun Gong cases in the Bengbu region.

Mr. Leng was introduced to Falun Gong in early 1999, but stopped practicing after the persecution started in July that year. He came across Falun Gong’s teachings on the internet again in 2013 and realized that this is what he wanted and resumed practicing Falun Gong. After his supervisor in the navy found out about his faith in 2015, he was forced to leave the military.
