(Minghui.org) A 52-year-old resident of Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province is scheduled to stand trial on November 28, 2024, for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Li Junfei credits Falun Gong for curing her liver fire (excessive heat and energy within the liver meridian according to traditional Chinese medicine), stomach bloating, and sciatica (pain radiating from the lower back to the leg). In April 2024, she posted on her social media count from her cell phone a few videos showing her doing Falun Gong meditation exercises, and received several thousands of likes. Her telecommunication company soon blocked her phone service. Officers from the Wandianzi Town Police Station also harassed her at home and forced her to sign a statement promising to stop posting Falun Gong exercising videos online.
Three officers broke into Ms. Li’s home around 3 p.m. on July 15, 2024. Two of them were from the Fushun City Police Department and the other from the Wandianzi Town Police Station. Fushun oversees Qingyuan County. The police confiscated a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main teaching of Falun Gong, and took her to the Fushun City First Detention Center.
An officer from the Wandianzi Town Police Station called the accountant of the Kanyuangou Village Government, asking the latter to notify Ms. Li’s husband to report to the police. Her husband went and was ordered to sign a document smearing Falun Gong. He was terrified and provided his signature.
Ms. Li’s lawyer visited her at the detention center on August 22 and learned that she had been issued a formal arrest warrant and deposed by the Shuncheng District Procuratorate in Fushun City. She also said that she could not see clearly due to her cataract.
With his wife detained, Ms. Li’s husband struggled to care for her 80-year-old mother, who is blind and deaf.
