(Minghui.org) Greetings Master! Greetings fellow practitioners!
I’m a 70-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner from Kinmen Island, Taiwan, and I’m very grateful to be able to share my cultivation experiences with you.
I didn’t finish elementary school. To have a better life, my family moved to the main island, Taiwan. Once my children found stable jobs, I volunteered at a temple. One day, while sweeping the temple, I sneezed out a large amount of pus. I was concerned and went to the hospital for examination. The doctor said that surgery was needed. I thought it might be my fate. I had no resentment but felt regretful because I wanted to practice spiritual cultivation.
Before the Chinese New Year, I met with my landlord to pay the rent. Seeing my pale face, he suggested I practice Falun Dafa. Cults were rampant at that time, so I was concerned. I also had deep misunderstanding about Dafa due to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) propaganda. But whenever I went out, I often saw Dafa posters. I was touched by the principles of “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” and in 2002, I decided to practice Falun Dafa.
Local practitioners did the exercises at 4:50 a.m. every day. The first time I went there, the volunteer coordinator arranged a sharing session after the exercises. I saw a lot of blurry light dots in the air. I couldn’t see them clearly and wondered if they were fog mists or rain drops. I realized later on that they were actually Falun.
I later participated in a parade in Kaohsiung. It rained heavily while we drove there highway. Suddenly, a Falun appeared in front of the windshield. The practitioners in the car were excited, and said that Master Li was protecting us.
Clarifying the Truths at Tourist Sites in Kinmen
The third year after I started practicing, the so-called “Small Three Links” for business, travel, and mail began between Kinmen and China, and Chinese tourists came to Kinmen in droves. So I went back to my hometown and established several truth-clarification sites there.
The first site was set up at Taiwu Mountain. Local practitioners and I displayed information about Dafa on more than 20 poster boards and a big banner. We handed out many fliers to the Chinese tourists, but things didn’t always go smoothly. Some tourists reported us and the police came. We sent strong righteous thoughts and convinced the police. One police officer stopped his coworkers from taking photos of us. On another occasion, we handed out Dafa fliers at the curb side of a one-way street, and an officer tried to come across the street to stop us. A garbage truck came just in time to block him. That officer was later told to leave us alone.
Due to lack of manpower, one practitioner sent a message and asked other practitioners on the main island for support. But because we didn’t coordinate well, we ended up having too many practitioners. The police were concerned about the size of our group and came to check on us every day.
Later on, the sightseeing at Taiwu Mountain waned down and we moved to Juguang Tower, where we also faced many obstacles. In the beginning, we were reported almost every day, but we persisted in clarifying the facts to the police, various agencies and local government officials. One day, a staffer from the Environmental Protection Bureau came and ordered us to leave. Seeing that I was determined to keep the site, he left, without taking further action.
When a new director of the tourism department took office, he ordered us to remove the display boards several times. He even came in person and demanded we vacate the site. We stayed silent. After a short while, he left and never came back.
I once met a father and his daughter at the site. I clarified the facts to the father and he said he understood. Both he and his daughter agreed to quit the CCP.
Some tourists cursed us but others gave us thumbs-up. Some didn’t dare to come close to read the posters but looked at us from the windows in the bus. One time while I was talking to a group of tourists, a bearded man rushed towards me. I didn’t want him to disrupt my truth-clarification and sent forth righteous thoughts to stop him. He suddenly turned around and disappeared in the crowd.
My Son Recovers from a Car Accident
In addition to talking to people at tourist sites, I also participated in other truth-clarification activities. Once I was involved in the Art of Zhen Shan Ren Exhibition. On the eve of the opening, my daughter called from Taiwan and said that my son was involved in a serious car accident. I was very anxious, but helpless because no flights were available at night. I comforted my son, who also practices Dafa, and said that Master is protecting him and he would be fine.
When I got home, my husband, who is not a practitioner, complained that I always gave anything to do with Dafa higher priority. I felt heart-wrenched, but I comforted him and said that Master would bless our son.
Since many practitioners would fly in from Taipei for the exhibit opening, my husband and I booked the morning flight to Taipei to see our son.
At the hospital, my husband complained to my daughters that I prioritized Dafa things over my son. My daughters said in unison that it was because their mother knew their brother would be fine.
We saw our son in the intensive care unit that night. His hands and feet were tied up because he moved around uncontrollably. I told him to recite “Falun Dafa is good” if he wanted to be untied. My son recited the words out loud. His condition stabilized. He was untied the next day and transferred to the general ward that evening.
My son was discharged from the hospital a few days later. After the stitches were removed, the doctor was surprised to see the scars healed very well with no major scars. I knew Master was looking after my son.
My son’s supervisor came to the hospital with an insurance agent, who came to take injury photos as evidences for the application of insurance compensation. After the application was filed, this supervisor offered to help apply for payment from another compensation, which was worth tens of thousands of dollars. He also offered to help my son get a disability certificate.
My son did not become disabled in this accident, so it wasn’t appropriate for him to apply for disability compensation. But I wasn’t sure if my husband would object it. When I talked to him and my son, to my surprise, both of them agreed not to apply for it. I felt truly relieved.
Clarifying the Truths in Jeju Island, South Korea
The Chinese tourists no longer came to Kinmen after the COVID pandemic started. I participated in several projects that clarified the facts online. But It was hard for me because I was used to talking to people face-to-face. Unable to go out, I became depressed. I felt uncomfortable.
One day, I heard that practitioners in Jeju Island, South Korea still had truth-clarification sites. I thought about going there but felt uneasy traveling to South Korea by myself. I asked another practitioner if she was interested in going with me. She agreed. We started to apply for the passport.
After much painstaking efforts, we arrived in South Korea. I was dumbfounded to see so many spicy dishes and kimchis at the dinner table. I wasn’t sure if I could eat those due to my stomach condition. I reminded myself that I’m a practitioner and I would be fine eating anything. After I ate the food and returned to the dormitory, I was surprised to find my upset stomach was fine. I’m glad I passed the test.
The duty-free shop at Jeju Island was crowded with Chinese tourists. Our display billboards were placed in front of the shop entrance, and many people fought their way to read the materials. I was worried that I could not effectively persuade them to quit the CCP. So I just asked them if they joined the CCP and whether they wanted to quit it. Many people agreed to quit the CCP without me having to explain everything. When things went smoothly, I felt complacent and forgot that everything is actually done by Master.
Looking Within
Clarifying the truth at Jeju Island presented me with many xinxing tests. When fellow practitioners made suggestions, I often rejected what they said and insisted that I knew what to do, as if I have been working at this truth-clarification site for more than ten years. Now I realized that I must remain humble and only then can I improve my xinxing.
One day, I approached a group of tourists who sat in front of the billboards, and one of them asked me to go away. A practitioner pulled me back with great force, causing me almost to fall. He explained that we should stop talking if people do not want to listen, but he really made my blood run hot. To calm myself down, I studied the Fa and looked inward. I realized I was being competitive and getting carried away. After I found my attachments, the results of my persuading the Chinese tourists to quit the CCP went very well later that day.
In the dormitory, some practitioners liked to listen to Minghui Radio. I felt it was noisy at first, but after listening for a few days, I enjoyed listening. Listening to the practitioners’ experiences strengthened my righteous thoughts—it was my attachment that didn’t like it.
Above is my experience sharing. I welcome practitioners to point out anything not in line with the Fa.
