(Minghui.org) The Epoch Times Australia and the Sydney branch of the Global Service Center for Quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) held a rally in front of the Sydney Town Hall to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the publication of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party series of editorials on December 7, 2024.
In their speeches, guests praised the Nine Commentaries as an extraordinary work that accurately and comprehensively analyzes the true nature of the CCP, exposes the conspiracy and ultimate goal of communism, and helps the world to understand the huge harm the CCP has done to the Chinese people and the world. The Nine Commentaries has played a vital role in promoting social awakening and major historical changes.

Chinese Scholar Respects Falun Gong

Dr. Feng Chongyi, a China Studies scholar at the University of Technology Sydney, opened his speech by saying that “Falun Gong is the best” and that the spread of the Nine Commentaries has promoted a global awakening to the CCP’s tyranny. “I respect Falun Gong very much because of their wisdom and courage in taking the lead in exposing the CCP’s evil crimes and lies.
“As a historian, I know the evil of the CCP and the great harm it has caused to humanity, the world and the human soul. The Party’s ideology is based on lies and deception, and its actions have led to the elimination of true civilization and the persecution of those who dare to oppose it. However, we are heartened by the recent awakening of the world to the truth of the CCP’s atrocities,” Dr. Feng said.
He believes that the world is facing a common mission: to solve the problem of the Chinese Communist Party. “The top priority of the democratic world and the free world is to eradicate the communist regime and save the Chinese people,” he said, “Australians and all kindhearted citizens around the world have a responsibility to support Falun Gong and all innocent citizens being persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party.”
John Deller: “I hope the Australian government understands the truth and breaks free from the CCP’s control”

John Deller, spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Australia, gave the history of Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) and explained the purpose of the Nine Commentaries at the rally.
Falun Gong was first introduced to the public in China by Mr. Li Hongzhi in May 1992, and had 70 million practitioners by 1998. But in July 1999, the Chinese Communist Party began a brutal persecution of Falun Gong, which continues to this day.
He said, “The principles of Falun Dafa cultivation are truthfulness, compassion, and tolerance. What kind of government would torture and kill those who try to be good and honest citizens? Only an evil regime that fears the truth and rules by lies would do this.”
After five years of appealing to the communist government for the right to freedom of belief, Falun Gong practitioners realized that this regime would never give up. It has never apologized for killing more than 80 million Chinese in its various political campaigns, and it will never stop persecuting Falun Gong.
“In November 2004, the Epoch Times published the Nine Commentaries. Falun Gong practitioners helped spread the Nine Commentaries throughout China. For the first time, the Chinese people learned the true history of communism in China and the evil nature of the CCP,” Mr. Deller said.
“The Nine Commentaries exposes the persecutor. When the Chinese people know the truth, their inner goodness will be awakened. More than 430 million people have withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated Young Pioneers and Communist Youth League organizations. When no one follows their lies anymore, the persecutors will no longer exist.
“That’s why the CCP has been desperately trying to influence Western governments and media against Falun Gong. The CCP is afraid that more people will know the truth because that will disintegrate it.”
He said that Australia and other Western countries should realize that helping to understand the efforts of Falun Gong practitioners will help their own countries break free from the control of the CCP.
“Stand with the freedom fighters who are persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime”

Former Australian federal MP Craig Kelly said he first wanted to send a message to the freedom fighters who are being persecuted by the Chinese Communist regime in Chinese prisons today. “They may be alone in their cells, but we Sydney Australians are with them in spirit. We praise their bravery and their sacrifice… This is a long-term battle for mankind to protect freedom, and this spirit and struggle must never be extinguished.”
He said the freedoms that we have in this country are something we should never take for granted. “We must fight for and protect our freedoms in this country and set an example for those who are fighting in communist China. Because if we give up the fight, if we let these people down, then totalitarianism will win and it will thrive. It is only through the courage of each and every one of us that we can win this battle,” he said, “We pray that the great China will one day be free of the control of the Communist Party.”

Lyle Shelton, National Chairman of the Family First Party and ADH TV host, spoke at the rally and said that he stood with Falun Gong and others who are against the evil of communism in this world as “the CCP is not just a threat to the Chinese people, it is even a threat to Australia. That is why the CCP must be destroyed.”

Former federal election candidate Natalie Dumer said, “We know the extent of the persecution of the Chinese people and their plight. We know about Falun Gong and the organ harvesting that takes place in prisons. However, this persecution and this evil did not happen overnight. It was a very slow process."
She implored everyone to continue talking about the plight of the Chinese people and expose the evil dictatorship of the Chinese Communist Party, and to continue speaking up for those who are fighting against the oppression of the Chinese Communist Party. “Never be silenced,” she said.

Paul Folley, president of the Australian Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property (TFP), said that the rally helped Australians become aware of the CCP’s harm and evil deeds and is awakening the conscience of the Australian people. “These brave people, more than 400 million people in China, voted with their feet and officially left the CCP. This is wonderful news and we need to spread this news as widely as possible.”
Folley said people often think that the most important things in the world are money and votes, but what’s more important is ideas. “Because ideas can change people’s hearts, but money can never do that. Ideas and concepts come from the human spirit and the human soul. Things of the mind and soul, things of the spirit are the most important.”
The Impact of the Nine Commentaries on Chinese People
Li Yuanhua, representative of the Sydney branch of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP, said the Nine Commentaries brought spiritual salvation to countless Chinese people, awakened many Chinese from the CCP’s lies, so they no longer have illusions about the CCP. The Nine Commentaries promotes spiritual awakening and the wave of quitting the CCP worldwide.
Chen Yonglin, a former Chinese diplomat, described the CCP’s influence on Chinese civilization as profoundly destructive. He stressed that the CCP regime brainwashed the Chinese people, resulting in a way of thinking that is “completely different from that of normal people” and this has cultivated an “anti-human spirit” in many Chinese people.
Mr. Chen also highlighted the CCP’s influence outside of China, and said that it is actively invading and influencing Western democracies and is a threat to global peace. He called the CCP “the most evil force in human history” and strongly condemned its actions and its impact on Chinese society and the international community.
Dr. Zhang Xiaogang, a democracy activist, praised Falun Gong practitioners and those who expose the CCP for their important contributions to overthrowing the CCP regime over the past 20 years. He talked about how he often saw Falun Gong practitioners fearlessly distributing truth-clarifying materials, including the Nine Commentaries, to people at tourist attractions when he was a tour guide. He firmly believed that with the joint efforts of those who oppose it around the world, the regime will surely fall.
