(Minghui.org) It’s recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that Ms. Zhang Suhua, 68, a Wutai County, Shanxi Province, resident, has been taken to the Shanxi Province Women’s Prison to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Zhang was arrested on April 9, 2022 by officers from the Wutai County Police Department, after a resident in a nearby village reported her and two other practitioners for distributing Falun Gong informational materials there. The police raided her home and confiscated her Falun Gong related materials.
The three practitioners were released on bail days later, but were taken back into custody on June 18, 2022 and held in a brainwashing center. The police initially told Ms. Zhang’s family that she would be released in 15 days. But instead of releasing her, the police transferred her to the Wutai County Detention Center. They refused to allow her family to visit her, on the grounds that she refused to tell them which practitioner gave her the materials.
Ms. Zhang’s family recently heard about her prison sentence, but details about her indictment, hearing and trial are unknown. It’s also not clear whether the other two practitioners who were arrested with her were sentenced.
