(Minghui.org) It’s recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that seven Changchun City, Jilin Province residents, including five who were arrested on February 19, 2023, were sentenced to prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Liu Xiaohua was arrested at home on February 19, 2023 by officers from the Changchun City Police Department and the Erdao District Domestic Security Office. She was sent to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison to serve a 5.5-year term. Her family isn’t allowed to visit her.
Mr. Yong Xian was seized by officers of the Erdao District Domestic Security Office on February 19, 2023. His arrest was approved on March 19, 2023. He was sentenced to 3.5 years and is currently held at the Changchun City Supervision Center.
Mr. Yang Guijie, Ms. Yang Jinfeng, and Mr. Jiao Chuanfu, were also arrested on February 19, 2023 by officers of the Erdao District Domestic Security Office. Mr. Yang and Ms. Yang (no relation) were sentenced to 2.5 years and 1.5 years respectively. Mr. Jiao’s prison term isn’t known. All three are currently held at the Changchun City Supervision Center.
Ms. Lyu Yongzhen was arrested a day later on February 20, 2023, also by officers from the Erdao District Domestic Security Office. She was held at the Weizigou Lockup. She was sentenced to three years and is also held at the Changchun City Supervision Center at the time of this report.
Ms. Cheng Mingjuan was arrested at home around 7 p.m. on September 10, 2023. Officers of the Lyuyuan District Police Station raided her place and took several Falun Gong books and paper currency imprinted with information about Falun Gong. Due to strict information censorship in China, the practitioners use creative ways to raise awareness about the persecution, including printing messages on money. It was recently confirmed that she has been sentenced to four years in prison.
