(Minghui.org) It’s recently been confirmed by Minghui.org that a resident in Shizuishan City, Ningxia Autonomous Region has been admitted to prison to serve a 3.5-year term for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Li Zhixiang was arrested in May 2022 after being followed by the police in Yinchuan City of the same province. Her home was raided. Due to the pandemic, the local detention center refused to admit her and she was released on bail. It’s not clear when she was arrested again or sentenced.
In the past 25 years, Ms. Li has been arrested and detained multiple times for practicing Falun Gong. She was twice taken to the provincial brainwashing center, in February 2003 and September 2007. Following her other arrest and home raid on the afternoon of November 17, 2004, she was held at the Shizuishan City First Detention Center for a few months before being transferred to a different brainwashing center. As she refused to renounce Falun Gong, she faced constant harassment by the local police and residential committee. Her husband struggled to cope with the mental pressure and divorced her.
Ms. Li was arrested again on the evening of July 29, 2015 and was held at the Shizuishan City First Detention Center. The Dawukou District Police Department put her on criminal detention on July 31. Her arrest was approved by the Dawukou District Procuratorate on September 3, 2015. She was later secretly sentenced by the Dawukou District Court to an unknown term and released in January 2016.
