(Minghui.org) My granddaughter was born in June 2008. When she was four months old, I held her in my lap as I watched the recordings of Master Li Hongzhi’s lectures. She watched with full attention. As she got older, I noticed she was bright and learned quickly. When she was ten months old she could count to five.
Her teachers called her a “model baby” when she was in preschool. She learned everything quicker than the other children her age. I realized that Master gave her wisdom.
My granddaughter could read Zhuan Falun before she was in elementary school. When I asked, “How do you know the words?” She replied, “I learned from my heart.”
One day she told me, “Today at nap time I dreamed that Master was teaching me how to send righteous thoughts.”
My granddaughter is an exceptional child and is well liked by everyone. Her achievements made me happy. A deep sentimental attachment formed between us. Because she lived with me since birth I never noticed how attached I was to her.
The day before she left for high school, I suddenly felt sad: "She will leave me tomorrow."
I knew something was affecting me. It was sentimentality. It was using my attachment to my granddaughter to drag me down. My granddaughter was leaving the next day. I thought: "Does this mean that she’s grown up? That she will spend less time with me?" Tears streamed down my face. I told myself: “Shame on you!” I couldn’t set my depression aside. I decided to study the Fa and read,
“I say that because during the journey you will have hardships, tests of every sort, unforeseen ordeals, and you will have unexpected interference from all kinds of attachments and emotion...But if you can break through all of it, you can advance towards godhood.” (“Teaching the Fa at the Western U.S. International Fa Conference” Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume VII)
Master’s Fa got me out of the dead end I'd run into in my cultivation. How can I return to my original home if I hold on to sentimentality? Fortunately, Master guides me, and I was able to overcome this tribulation.
