(Minghui.org) After reading Master’s new article “Wake Up,” I found an attachment to despising others and my own shortcomings. Such a mentality is common for those who grew up in China under the communist party culture, and it has prevented me from developing compassion for others, let alone being kind to and tolerant of them.
When I left China, I noticed that people in the West are more tolerant and respectful of other people, a clear distinction from Chinese society. Most people here are kind and supportive of each other. I rarely see people despise others or be jealous of someone or something.
I constantly remind myself in my daily life not to despise others, especially not to be moved by negative emotions when I see others’ shortcomings or things I dislike. I try to put myself in their shoes and understand their difficulties. Only then can I be more understanding and develop compassion for them.
In fact, people’s shortcomings are associated with their karma and it’s the suffering they have to endure. Exactly because I can see their shortcomings and suffering, it gives me opportunities to cultivate my compassion, opportunities I need to cherish.
Above are some of my reflections after reading Master’s new article. I welcome practitioners to point out to me anything not in line with the Fa.
