(Minghui.org) On July 20, 2024, the 25th anniversary of the beginning of the persecution of Falun Dafa in China, practitioners held activities in Lima and Piura to protest the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution and commemorate those practitioners who were tortured to death.
In Lima, Peru’s capital, practitioners held activities on the major streets and handed out brochures at a busy commercial center.
They held a candlelight vigil that evening at Alfonso Ugarte Park in front of the Chinese embassy to mourn practitioners who died in the persecution. During the vigil, police officers and government employees spoke with them to learn more about the persecution.

Raising Awareness in Piura
That same day, practitioners also hosted activities in Piura. They demonstrated the exercises at a park in the center of the city. A number of people were interested in learning the exercises after seeing the peaceful scene.

Many passersby were surprised to learn that the 25-year-long persecution is still going on. Some people expressed interest in learning the exercises.
Practitioners Talk about Their Cultivation Experiences
Julio Zapata was drawn by the peaceful exercises and wanted to learn more. After reading Zhuan Falun, he realized how profound Falun Dafa is and began practicing.
He was saddened by the persecution and praised the work practitioners have done to end it.
Reporter Marcos Cabrera interviewed a practitioner who talked about the benefits of Falun Dafa. She described how she improved physically and mentally after she began practicing. She also said that putting the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance into practice in her daily life was very important.
