Ms. Zhang Chunhua, of Sanhe City, Hebei Province, died on March 6, 2019 in the persecution of Falun Gong. She was 61.
Since the onset of the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Ms. Zhang went to Beijing four times to appeal and was arrested and put on criminal detention each time. She was also fined for a total of 6,000 yuan
Ms. Zhang went to visit her sister in Tianjin on February 12, 2000. She was arrested and held at the Houjiaying Police Station for a day, before being escorted back to Sanhe. The police handcuffed her to a concrete pole overnight and took her to the Sanhe City Detention Center the next day for 40 days.
Ms. Zhang was arrested again on April 24, 2000. After three days at the township police station, she was taken to the Sanhe City Detention Center on April 27 and transferred to the Kaiping Forced Labor Camp on April 28 to serve a one-year term.
On the early morning of February 15, 2001, only a few days after Ms. Zhang was released, the police arrested her husband, Mr. Pan Zhenfang, and gave him a three-year forced labor term.
Ms. Zhang was forced to live away from home in October 2001, after she escaped from being taken to a brainwashing center. The police often came to her home to harass her family.
The persecution took a toll on her health and she passed away on March 6, 2019.
