(Minghui.org) I wondered why Shen Yun and Master are being sued in the U.S.
Master said:
“The Fa-rectification affects the futures of all lives, instead of only Dafa disciples, the world’s people, or beings from different realms. Given the Fa-rectification’s immensity, who could be left out?” (“Fa Teaching Given at the 2005 Canada Fa Conference,” Collected Teachings Given Around the World Volume V)
After the persecution started, I developed a notion that everything about the U.S. was good, because Master was in the U.S., and the U.S. in general had shown its support for Falun Dafa. I thought the rest of the world would follow its lead. When I heard someone speak ill of the U.S., it bothered me. I believed the U.S. would be free of the CCP persecution. This is a notion that discriminates and reflects my attachment to relying on ordinary people. The lawsuit was a “stick wake-up” for me to realize that the CCP persecution could be anywhere if practitioners do not do well.
After reading Minghui’s special report “Our Master,” I discovered understandings that originated from my notions. For instance, I believed that I had an almighty Master and I was proud of that. This notion came from my attachment to showing off.
An article on Minghui talked about Master teaching the practice in Jinzhou City. One day Master and several practitioners toured a temple. Upon seeing the Buddha statues, one of the practitioners thought, “I practice the universal Great Law and am better than all of you.” He then saw Master giving him a stern look. The practitioner knew right away that he was wrong. My understanding is that, when Master told practitioners his situation, he was teaching the Fa, not telling them how high his level is.
In my opinion, Master published “A Wake-Up Call” and “The Ordeals Our Spiritual Discipline Faces” to warn us when large numbers of practitioners began to slack off in cultivation. But we did not wake up to the warning or pay attention to it.
I found two reasons why I slacked off in cultivation. The first was my attachment to time. I believed that Fa-rectification was approaching the end and I did not need to be strict about my cultivation. The second reason was my misunderstanding of Master’s words: “If you could make it today, you would now be a Buddha. Cultivation takes time, but you should not slack off.” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
I took “cultivation takes time” the wrong way and thought that I should take my time. Whether I pass a test well or not, whether I practice diligently or not, I am still cultivating, and it’s all part of cultivation. This is, in fact, a false notion.
If a practitioner continues to see Master and Dafa through the lens of his human notions, it will become an obstacle on his path of cultivation and in Fa-rectification.
