(Minghui.org) When President-elect Donald Trump recently laid out his vision for Greenland, the Panama Canal, and the “Gulf of America,” the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) reacted with broad criticism. Some people who are not familiar with the situation may also consider his proposals excessive.
But a wider look at the entire Americas shows a different picture: Not only has the United States been infiltrated by the CCP’s soft power, but almost all surrounding areas of the U.S. are within the CCP’s sphere of influence.
The CCP’s Global Expansion
More specifically, the CCP has been strategically sandwiching the U.S. from both north and south. In the north, the Canadian government has been relatively weak in front of the Chinese regime. In the case of Meng Wanzhou, for example, although Canadian citizens were arbitrarily imprisoned in China, Meng could go to supermarkets freely in Canada with bodyguards. In the south, we see fentanyl flowing into the U.S. and a Chinese-owned factory in Mexico that is planned to serve as a hub for exporting electric vehicles to America.
West and south of the Gulf of Mexico are Cuba and Latin America, which are often seen as the CCP’s backyard. Venezuela, too, is viewed as an old friend of China. Peru and Chile in South America are signatories of the Belt and Road Initiative, and Brazil is one of the BRICS countries and has close ties with China.
The Panama Canal was built by the U.S. in 1904. President Jimmy Carter signed an agreement in 1977 to hand over control of the canal to Panama in 1999. Today, the U.S. is the main user of the canal, accounting for 74% of its cargo volume. The Panama Canal is of strategic importance to U.S. national security, but the actual control of Panama is effectively in the hands of the CCP. In fact, through economic means, the CCP has infiltrated more than 40 ports in the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans that can be used for warships to dock. They are essentially spread all over the world. Several ports in the Panama Canal are also controlled by the CCP.
Greenland is the world’s largest island, and rare earth minerals are more abundant there than in the United States. Rare earths are a major tool used by the CCP to retaliate against the U.S. technology blockade. In 2023 and 2024, the CCP twice banned the export of rare earth minerals with extensive military applications to the United States.
In addition, according to the Arctic Institute, China has begun to strengthen its military capabilities in the Arctic in recent years, making Greenland a crucial place. Denmark is the only comprehensive strategic partner of China among Nordic countries.
As the leading power to counter the CCP, the U.S. does need to take strategic measures and concrete actions to curb the Chinese regime’s global expansion. Otherwise, we would see instability and turmoil in more regions as the CCP influence’s grows.
Soft Power and the Blue-Gold-Yellow Project
The CCP’s soft culture and soft power penetration of the United States is essentially one type of invasion. It has several components: global encirclement of the United States through the Belt and Road Initiative, espionage and intelligence gathering through Confucius Institutes, using business to force political engagement with the world’s factory, internationalizing the RMB to replace the dollar’s international reserve currency status, media bribery and long-arm jurisdiction. The recent attack on Falun Gong by a Western newspaper is a typical example.
Looking closely, one may find many such activities. For example, the CCP engages in three types of warfare (public opinion, information, and legal) in addition to conducting cyberattacks and stealing technology and intellectual property. It has also deployed police stations in the U.S. to persecute dissidents.
The Blue-Gold-Yellow Project, in particular, is one form of unrestricted warfare carried out by the CCP. It is a united front and method of internal disintegration that can be more powerful than nuclear war. “Blue” refers to network monitoring and the spread of false online rumors and financial information. “Gold” refers to bribery, and “Yellow” refers to seduction by women who serve as CCP agents.
In the beginning, the Blue-Gold-Yellow Project only targeted politicians in the United States and Taiwan, but now it targets everyone. The recent trend with hundreds of thousands of American TikTok users moving to the CCP’s Xiaohongshu (RedNote) platform is a typical example. Those Americans who call themselves “TikTok refugees” across Generation Y, Generation Z, and Generation Alpha, have unfortunately become typical victims of the Blue-Gold-Yellow Project.
Generation Y, also known as the Millennials, refers to people born between the 1980s and 1990s and has an affinity for self-indulgence and high-tech products. Generation Z, born between the 1990s and 2010s, are digital media natives. Generation Alpha is even more dependent on digital media and smartphones, giving the CCP an attractive target for its “Blue” united front strategy to achieve global hegemony.
Safeguarding the Free World
As a young and unique country, the United States has played an important role in maintaining the world order. Compared to communist China, it has made fundamentally opposing choices, including democratic constitutionalism instead of the CCP’s dictatorship and its private economy as opposed to communist monopolies. While the U.S. has helped various countries (including China since the Qing Dynasty) and negotiated and fought for world peace, the CCP has always regarded the U.S. as its mortal enemy and a major roadblock on its path to dominate the world with communism.
Even if China may become the center of the world in the future, that China will definitely not be the China under CCP rule; instead, it would be a new China after the disintegration of the CCP and restoration of traditional values. This cannot be achieved through unrestricted warfare; rather, once communism is eradicated, traditional values and the common good will attract people from all over the world.
The free world will survive only if the United States succeeds in stopping the CCP’s expansion. In other words, only by completely opposing the CCP can we help build a greater America and a better world. All these efforts will help to disintegrate the CCP and help people stay away from influence of its Blue-Gold-Yellow Project.
