(Minghui.org) A Muling City, Heilongjiang Province, man was admitted to Mudanjiang Prison in December 2024 to serve a six-year term, even though he was still struggling with high blood pressure, a condition that initially got him denied prison admission in 2022.
Mr. Peng Jianpu, 75, was arrested on November 27, 2021, for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in a residential area. The police raided his home and released him.
On the afternoon of April 15, 2022, two officers seized him and took him to the Bamiantong Town First Police Station. The police said they weren’t done with his case yet. They interrogated him and released him hours later.
Over ten officers arrested Mr. Peng at his home around 11 a.m. on June 7, 2022. Their attempt to detain him was unsuccessful after Mr. Peng was found to have dangerously high blood pressure (218/100 mmHg when normal is 120/80 or lower). The police confiscated his ID and released him on bail.
Mr. Peng was arrested again in October 2022 for distributing Falun Gong materials by officer Wang Zhongjun of the Bamiantong Town First Police Station. The police submitted his case to the Hailin City Procuratorate and sought to have him prosecuted.
The Hailin City Court tried Mr. Peng on November 23, 2022, and later sentenced him to six years with a 3,000-yuan fine. The bailiff and police made several attempts to get him admitted to prison but failed each time due to his persistent high blood pressure.
On July 18, 2024, the judge gave orders for Mr. Peng to be examined again. He was still unfit for detention. Despite his poor health, the police arrested Mr. Peng on December 10, 2024. They first held him in the Bamiantong Town Detention Center and later took him to the Mudanjiang Prison.
Prior to this latest sentence, Mr. Peng had already served a labor camp term of three years and another prison sentence of three and a half years, detailed below, for upholding his faith.
He was arrested on October 10, 2005, by Zhou Xinsheng and others from the Muling City Domestic Security Division. He was given three years at the Suihua Forced Labor Camp and subjected to brutal torture.
Mr. Peng was arrested again on the evening of December 21, 2011. The police and 610 Office agents took him to the Mudanjiang City Brainwashing Center without allowing him to put on his winter coat. He was detained for ten days and released on December 31.
Mr. Peng was arrested again on the morning of June 21, 2014, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials at a farmer’s market. The police beat him and left his face bloody. He was later sentenced to three and a half years by the Muling City Court and taken to the Hulan Prison in Harbin City, the capital of Heilongjiang, on February 15, 2015. He was subjected to the “flying an airplane” torture and forced to stand for long hours without moving. He was covered with scabies, which oozed pus and blood. He was released on September 20, 2017.
