(Minghui.org) Soon after she began practicing Falun Dafa in 2014, Jing was illegally arrested by police and sentenced to four years in prison, because she gave someone a Shen Yun DVD. The only practitioner she knew was the one who introduced her to Falun Dafa, but this practitioner had died from the persecution. Jing met several practitioners in prison before she was released, and one of them gave her the phone number of another practitioner. Through that practitioner, I got to know Jing, and she shared her experiences with me.

The Meaning of Life

After graduating from a university, Jing worked for a state-owned enterprise, got married, and started a family. The couple loved each other and enjoyed a stable income. Although Jing’s family life was fulfilling, she always felt that something was missing, and she sometimes felt lost and empty. In 2014, she met a practitioner who explained what Falun Dafa is. After reading a flyer, she was deeply moved by Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, and she wished to learn more. Jing later reconnected with the practitioner, who gave her a copy of Falun Dafa’s main book Zhuan Falun. After reading it, she realized that this was what she had been searching for. She understood that the true meaning of life was to return to one’s true nature, to the source of one’s being, to one’s own world, and to one’s true home.

Zhuan Falun changed Jing’s life. She eagerly read it and handled every problem she encountered according to Dafa’s teachings, including her relationships with family, coworkers, and friends. She told her friends and family about Falun Dafa, and clarified the truth about the persecution. The police arrested her when she gave a Shen Yun DVD to someone who was deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). She remained steadfast in her faith and refused to cooperate with the police. She refused to answer questions, wouldn’t say who gave her the Shen Yun DVD, and refused to sign the transcript. Instead, she recounted the changes and experiences she experienced after she began practicing, explaining that she followed Falun Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance to become a better person, and that she had broken no laws. Because she refused to give up her practice, Jing was illegally sentenced to four years in prison.

Willing to Sacrifice Everything for Dafa

The prison guards assumed that because she had only practiced Falun Dafa for a short time, she didn’t have a deep understanding of the practice, so they could easily transform her. However, despite their repeated attempts at brainwashing, threats, and inducements—including forcing her to sit in the same position on a small stool for sixteen hours a day, barring her from talking to others, restricting access to the bathroom, water, and purchasing necessities, and denying visits from her family—the officers’ repeated attempts were unsuccessful in changing her steadfast faith in Falun Dafa. Jing told the officers who tried to transform her, “Although I haven’t practiced Falun Dafa for long and my understanding of the Fa is limited, I know that Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is the universal Fa and mankind’s only hope. It’s my honor to have obtained the universal Fa. Dafa has enabled me to understand the true meaning of life, returning to one’s origin and true self, to one’s true home. For this, I am willing to sacrifice everything, even my life.”

Because Jing had practiced Falun Dafa for only a short time and didn’t remember much of what Master taught, she recited every day, “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.” Although she suffered many tribulations in prison, under Master’s protection she walked out with dignity, did the three things she should do, and used her actions to demonstrate the greatness of Dafa.

Her Husband’s Affair

After Jing was released from prison, her husband, fearing she might be arrested again, did not allow her to leave the house or interact with other practitioners. With the help of fellow practitioners, she was able to obtain Dafa books, and software to bypass the CCP’s Internet blockade. She used the quiet environment to diligently study the Fa, practice the exercises, and send righteous thoughts. As she continued to study the Fa, her xinxing improved.

She soon faced a xinxing test when she discovered that her husband had an affair while she was imprisoned. When she confirmed it, her self-esteem was severely damaged, and she almost collapsed. She wanted to argue with him, quarrel with him, or even divorce him, but then she thought, “I’m a Falun Dafa practitioner now. How can I be like an ordinary person? When practitioners encounter conflicts, they must look inside. This is my husband’s issue, so how am I at fault?” She calmed down, studied the Fa, and reflected on the situation. Master said:

“Qing is something of everyday people, and everyday people just live for it.” (Lecture Six in Zhuan Falun)

She thought, “That’s right, I used to yearn for a better life, and to live well and comfortably. I longed for the romantic love between husband and wife.”

Jing thought, “As a cultivator, I must let go of attachments like fame, wealth, and love. Why would I cling to them? She looked at it from her husband’s perspective, thinking that today’s society is declining, especially under CCP rule. Human morality is rapidly deteriorating, and human ethics are declining. My husband is an ordinary person, and he might succumb to the temptation of lust and go with the flow. As a cultivator, I should forgive him and treat him kindly.”

While Jing looked inward, her husband told her about his infidelity and vowed to sever ties and never do it again. Jing forgave her husband, and their relationship became even more harmonious.
