(Minghui.org) British officials and the public are shocked by the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) brutal persecution of Falun Dafa, especially the CCP’s state-sanctioned forced organ harvesting.

UK officials and parliamentarians continue to speak out to condemn the CCP’s atrocities of forced organ harvesting. They have issued statements to oppose the CCP’s transnational repression and uphold freedom of belief.

Cabinet Secretary of Scotland Expresses Concern About China’s Human Rights Plight

Angus Roberston, Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture, Scotland

Letter from Secretary Angus Roberston

Angus Roberston, Cabinet Secretary for Constitution, External Affairs and Culture, Scotland, stated in his letter to Daniel Johnson, Member of Scotland Parliament (MSP), on October 16, 2025, “The Scottish Government has serious concerns regarding the human rights situation in China, and will continue to raise these concerns directly with the Chinese Government. Respect for human rights and the rule of law is one of the guiding principles in the Scottish Government’s engagement with China.”

He stressed, “We remain deeply concerned about the persecution of Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, Falun Gong practitioners and others on the grounds of their religion or belief in China. The UK Government has told us that they have publicly raised the issue of freedom of religion or belief in China, for example the Prime Minister raised human rights in his first meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping in August.

“We would take seriously any evidence regarding forced organ harvesting. If true, the practice of systematic, state-sponsored organ harvesting would constitute a serious violation of human rights. The UK Government should continue to monitor and review evidence relating to reports of forced organ harvesting in China and maintain a dialogue with leading NGO's and international partners on the issue.

“I hope this helps reassure yourself and your constituents that this is a serious matter which we are continuing to monitor.”

Minister of State for Europe: Championing Freedom of Religion and Belief

Stephen Doughty MP, Minister of State for Europe, North America and UK Overseas Territories, and his letter

Stephen Doughty MP, Minister of State for Europe, North America and UK Overseas Territories, stated in his response letter to Mike Kane MP, “The UK Government champions freedom of religion or belief for all. In the UK, we are firmly committed to promoting and protecting the right to freedom of religion or belief, and in being a strong voice internationally in defence of this fundamental right.”

Regarding the Russian’s persecution of Falun Gong under the CCP’s influence, he stated, “The UK Government condemns the deterioration in the Kremlin’s dire domestic human rights record and calls for the Russian state to uphold its international commitments on the freedom of religion or belief. We regularly use our public communications and position in multilateral fora to highlight, and hold Russia to account for, its human rights violations. For example, on 31 July the UK raised the Russian authorities' repression of internal political opposition at the UN Security Council. The UK’s Human Rights Ambassador reiterated our call for the Russian authorities to release all political prisoners on 4 August.”

Regarding the CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong, he stressed, “The environment for freedom of religion or belief across China is restrictive, which includes the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners both at home and overseas. We work to uphold the right to freedom of religion and belief through our position at the UN, G7 and other multilateral fora, and through bilateral engagement with China. The Prime Minister, former Foreign Secretary, Chancellor, Energy Secretary and Minister for the Indo-Pacific have all raised human rights with their Chinese counterparts in recent months.”

MP: Forced Organ Harvesting Is One of the Gravest Possible Violations of Human Rights

Dr. Zubir Ahmed MP

Dr. Zubir Ahmed MP stated in his reply to his constituent, “The accounts you describe are deeply troubling. Reports from the China Tribunal and numerous human rights organisations continue to suggest that persecution of religious and ethnic minorities in China remains widespread. Allegations of organ harvesting, if true, would represent one of the gravest possible violations of human rights and human dignity.

“I note your call for further UK action, including targeted sanctions and greater scrutiny of medical collaboration with China,” he wrote. “I understand why many feel these measures are necessary to ensure that the UK is not complicit in abuses. The UK must continue to press for transparency and accountability in China’s organ transplantation system, and I believe that all international partners should do more to secure independent verification of these practices.”

MP: Incredibly Disturbing Allegations About Human Organ Harvesting

Mark Ferguson MP and his letter

Mark Ferguson MP wrote, “I remain deeply concerned about the persecution of people on the grounds of their religion or belief in China, be it Uighur Muslims in Xinjiang, Christians, Buddhists, or Falun Gong practitioners. The freedom to practise, change or share one’s faith or belief without discrimination or violent opposition is a human right that all people should enjoy.

“I am aware of the incredibly disturbing allegations that have been reported over several years about human organ harvesting in China. I also understand that minority and religious groups, including Falun Gong practitioners, may be being specifically targeted.”

He continued, “In late 2014, Chinese authorities announced that the country would stop the practice of harvesting organs from executed prisoners. The implementation of this policy would be an important step. However, I know that more recent reports have said that the practice continues, including the judgment of the China Tribunal initiated by the International Coalition to End Transplant Abuse in China (ETAC). Indeed, the China Tribunal concluded that forced organ harvesting has been committed for years throughout China on a significant scale, with Falun Gong practitioners and the Uighurs being the main victims.”

“I know the Government continues to raise concerns about human rights at the highest levels. I understand the Prime Minister, Foreign Secretary, Chancellor and Energy Secretary have all raised human rights recently with their counterparts. I am also aware the Government continues to monitor the situation for religious minorities in China closely,” he stated.

He concluded, “I will continue to support the Government in championing freedom of religion or belief for all abroad.”
