(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners held a rally in front of the Sydney Town Hall on September 28, 2025, to celebrate 450 million Chinese people quitting the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated youth organizations. Guests speakers commended the groundswell of withdrawals from the CCP, referring to those brave enough to withdraw from the CCP organizations as standing at the forefront of a future free China.
Community leaders who attended to show their support emphasized that the movement to withdraw from the CCP is not political, but is rather a moral choice to safeguard conscience, mankind, and the future. They called on the Chinese people to recognize the CCP’s true nature, shun its evilness, and for all to condemn the CCP’s transnational repression.

As of September 29 of this year, nearly 452 million Chinese people have renounced their membership in the CCP and its affiliated youth organizations, the Communist Youth League and the Young Pioneers.
China Expert Commends Falun Dafa Practitioners for Their Courage, Tenacity, and Wisdom
Professor Feng Chongyi, China expert and Associate Professor of the University of Technology Sydney (UTS), spoke at the rally, praising the withdrawal movement initiated and promoted by practitioners of Falun Dafa (also known Falun Gong). He called movement “The most successful and largest social movement against the CCP’s tyranny. It is precisely because of your efforts and success that more and more countries and people around the world are awakened and fully aware of the evil nature of the CCP regime. They are impressed by your courage, tenacity, and wisdom, and are determined, like me, to support your great cause.”
Professor Feng Chongyi speaks at the rally.
He quoted Confucius’ famous saying, “The general of an army may be taken away, but the will of the common man cannot be taken away,” to praise those who have quit the CCP organizations. “This is a symbol of your courage, tenacity, and wisdom. Although Falun Gong practitioners are ordinary people, and the CCP’s violent machine can deprive an army of its commander, it cannot deprive an ordinary person of their conscience, will, and dignity.”
Senior Legal Scholar: The CCP’s Forced Organ Harvesting Is a Crime Against Humanity
Professor David Flint, recipient of the Order of Australia and a senior legal scholar, stated that renouncing the CCP is no ordinary choice; it requires tremendous courage. He believes that those who take the risk of quitting the CCP will be at the forefront of a future free China.

Professor Flint strongly condemned the CCP’s long-term persecution of Falun Gong: “The CCP’s persecution of Falun Gong uses a three-step strategy of ‘discrediting their reputation, bankrupting them financially, and eliminating them physically.’”
He also cited the conclusion of the independent China Tribunal chaired by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC in London, which reached the verdict that the CCP has been harvesting organs such as kidneys, livers, and hearts from healthy young Falun Gong practitioners to establish a demand-based organ trafficking system.
Lyle Shelton, chair of the Family First Party, speaks at the rally.
Lyle Shelton, chair of the Family First Party, said that the CCP’s evil political ideology will not last. He warned the public that interacting with a regime that still praises communism poses a huge contradiction and danger to the free world, and urged the Western world to be highly vigilant against CCP influence.
The Withdrawals Are a Moral Awakening
Attorney Newton Xu, representing the Service Center for Quitting the CCP in Sydney, stated, “The withdrawal movement has become one of the most significant historical developments in the modern world. It reflects not only the moral awakening of the Chinese people, but also the inevitable decline of the Party itself.”
Attorney Newton Xu addresses the rally.
He stated that withdrawing from the CCP is a choice to safeguard conscience, humanity, and the future. He cited three arguments to demonstrate that quitting the CCP is not a political choice but a moral one:
“First, the CCP has reached a dead end. The Party’s handling of the COVID outbreak—first locking down with extreme ‘Zero-COVID’ measures, then suddenly lifting restrictions without warning—brought enormous suffering and loss of life. In the years that followed, China’s stock market, real estate, foreign exchange, and bond markets collapsed one after another, bringing the economy into a state of ‘total breakdown.’ By 2025, the crisis had deepened with no solutions in sight. Even Party elites have lost confidence. The children and family members of high-ranking officials are emigrating in large numbers, moving their wealth overseas.
“Second, the CCP’s very ideology is alien to China’s ancient and divinely-inspired culture. For thousands of years, China has cherished reverence for Heaven, respect for ancestors, moral virtue, and the balance between man and nature. Yet the CCP, founded on Marxism-Leninism, imported from the West, promotes atheism, struggle, and a ruthless ideology where the ends justify the means. Since 1949, for over 76 years, it has ruled through dictatorship and fear, never through the consent of the people. It has inflicted bloody political campaigns, destroyed culture, and stripped people of their freedoms.
“Third, the CCP’s crimes are unspeakably evil. Above all, its most heinous act has been the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners. Beginning on July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin and the CCP mobilized the entire state machine to suppress a peaceful spiritual practice based on Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. This persecution has lasted 26 years, making it one of the longest-running and most devastating campaigns of repression in modern history. It has included imprisonment, torture, propaganda, and the atrocity of forced organ harvesting—an unspeakable crime against humanity. This is an evil unprecedented on this planet.
“To this day, the CCP has not relented. In fact, it is escalating its attacks, extending them overseas with disinformation campaigns, infiltration, and even attempts to manipulate foreign media.”
The Withdrawals Mark the Awakening of People
John Deller, Falun Dafa Association of Australia spokesman, addresses the rally.
John Deller, spokesperson for the Falun Dafa Association of Australia, stated that the withdrawals movement is a spiritual revolution, which marks people’s awakening. He cited the views of former Czech President Václav Havel to explain the deeper meaning of the movement: “‘If the fuel for the growth of totalitarianism is weak and fearful individuals, then a cure is a personal revolution that takes place in hearts and minds and leads to an awakening of self-responsibility, courage and strength.’” He said that the groundswell of people renouncing the CCP “marks the awakening of the Chinese people—they dare to take responsibility for what is happening in China and demonstrate steadfast courage and strength.”
Mr. Deller pointed out that the CCP’s control is based on lies, and that Falun Gong practitioners, who live by Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, reveal the CCP’s lies. This is why they have become the CCP’s primary target. He quoted Soviet dissident writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: “If everyone stopped lying, the communist system would collapse on its own.” Deller stated that the CCP relies on lies to try to completely control people’s thoughts and spiritual aspirations, and that over the past 26 years of resisting the persecution, Falun Gong has helped people break through this mental manipulation and regain their free will and spiritual strength.
Mr. Deller said that the CCP not only manipulates people within China but also exports its lies abroad through “cognitive warfare,” engaging in transnational repression and infiltration—from culture and beliefs, to information. The withdrawal movement offers the opportunity to help Chinese people see clearly what they have experienced and to free themselves from the shackles of communism. He said that this is not an act of opposition to China, but is rather a gesture of support for the Chinese people, and will bring them happiness.
Urging the Australian Government to Help Stop the CCP’s Atrocities
Ganesh Loke, former candidate for Parramatta federal election and entrepreneur, said that the wave of withdrawing from the CCP is accelerating, which demonstrates the unstoppable public awakening. He called on the Australian Prime Minister to publicly condemn the CCP, recognize the contributions of Falun Gong practitioners, and face up to the CCP’s crimes of openly stifling freedom of speech and killing people.

Mr. Loke praised Falun Gong practitioners as the bravest of people. Despite facing surveillance, torture, and fear, millions of Falun Gong practitioners have stood steadfast against the CCP’s unimaginable cruelty.
He also said that Falun Gong’s response to the CCP’s violent persecution with nonviolent resistance embodies the power of nonviolence advocated by Mahatma Gandhi. “Nonviolence is a force that no one can defeat. Falun Gong practitioners do not advocate violence, but instead confront the CCP with faith and resilience, which is admirable.”
Mehmet Celepci, secretary of the Uyghur Association of Australia, also urged the Australian government to take action to hold the CCP officials accountable. He said the CCP has lost its global legitimacy, and even the families of its officials are fleeing China to seek asylum in free countries. “Why are they fleeing? Because under the CCP rule, anything can happen.”
He praised the 450 million people who have bravely quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations, calling it excellent news. He hopes more will choose to do so, to completely eradicate this global virus of communism.
Civil rights activist Mr. Fu said that quitting the Party symbolizes the Chinese people’s rejection of CCP tyranny and is an important sign that Chinese society is moving toward freedom, democracy, and a bright future. “They [those who have quit the CCP] are a ray of light illuminating the darkness. Through concrete actions, they have freed themselves from the shackles of lies, awakened their conscience, and have chosen to stand on the side of truth and justice.”

Many passers-by listened to the speeches, talked with practitioners, and signed the petition calling to stop the CCP’s persecution.
