(Minghui.org) A woman in Chengdu City, Sichuan Province, was sentenced to three years on October 19, 2025, for practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Yu Xiuqiong’s family never received any updates about her case, and they don’t know if a trial ever took place.

Ms. Yu, in her 50s, talked to a young man about Falun Gong on the afternoon of August 20, 2024. He took photos of her and reported her to the police. While she managed to escape, she was arrested at home the next day by Taixing Police Station officers. Her Falun Gong books, informational materials, and several thousand yuan in paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them were confiscated. (Due to strict information censorship in China, Falun Gong practitioners use novel channels to raise awareness about the persecution, including printing information on paper currency.)

Ms. Yu was taken to the Pi County Detention Center for 15 days of criminal detention. The police issued a formal arrest warrant after 15 days and submitted her case to the Xindu District Procuratorate in December 2024. She was indicted in July 2025 and sentenced by the Xindu District Court on October 19, 2025.
