(Minghui.org) Nearly 40 Falun Gong practitioners in the greater Jinzhou region, Liaoning Province, were arrested on June 3, 2025 for their faith, and six have been sentenced to prison with terms ranging from eleven months to two years.
The six practitioners, all from Beizhen City, under the jurisdiction of Jinzhou, were held at the Jinzhou City Detention Center after their arrests by Luyang Town Police Station officers. Ms. Han Yanwen was given two years; Ms. Miao Guijun was sentenced to thirteen months; and Ms. Tian Xiufen, Ms. Zhao Chunyan, Ms. Li Shuzhen, and Ms. Wang Yulan each received eleven months. Details about their indictment, trial, and sentencing aren’t clear.
Below is information about the past persecution of Ms. Han, Ms. Zhao and Ms. Tian.
Ms. Han Yanwen was arrested in May 2000, along with her older sister, Ms. Han Yanjie and their mother; all three were detained for 25 days. Ms. Han Yanwen went to Beijing in November 2000 to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong, only to be arrested and detained for three days. During her detention, she was forced to squat from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. in a room without heat. She was later brought back to Beizhen City and held at a local detention center.
Ms. Han was given a three-year term at the Masanjia Forced Labor Camp on December 31, 2000. As she refused to renounce Falun Gong, she was subjected to various torture methods. She was held in a metal cage for two days and forced to work at least 13 hours a day without pay.
Ms. Han was arrested again at home on June 25, 2016, by officers from the Beizhen City Domestic Security Office and Luyang Town Police Station. She was released on bail in the afternoon.
Ms. Zhao, 69, began to practice Falun Gong in 1997. She has been repeatedly harassed during the past 26 years. She was arrested in the winter of 2000, forced to write a statement to renounce Falun Gong, and fined 1,000 yuan.
Ms. Tian, 71, has also been repeatedly harassed since the onset of the persecution in 1999. She was arrested in 2000, detained for three days, and fined 1,000 yuan. When her son moved to another country, the police didn’t allow her to travel outside of China to visit him.
