(Minghui.org) I started practicing Falun Dafa in 1996 and am now over 70 years old.
Master told disciples to do the three things well, and one of them is to clarify the truth and save sentient beings. I usually speak eloquently, but when it came to clarifying the truth, I didn’t know how to start. I was very concerned.
I talked to several practitioners who regularly clarified truth and told them that I wanted to team up with them to learn from them. But most of them already had partners. I ended up distributing truth-clarification leaflets and pamphlets, and posting stickers. For several years, I tried to clarify the truth on my own, but the results were unsatisfactory.
One day I talked to two practitioners again and said that I would like to team up with them. They declined and said, “If you do well in the New Tang Dynasty (NTD) satellite TV installation project, that will save more lives!” But I didn’t know how to install satellite TV or who could teach me how.
In 2007, despite the pressure of the persecution, I talked to my family about installing NTD in our home. After discussing it several times, my family finally agreed. I invited a fellow practitioner to install NTD in my apartment, and I helped do it. After the satellite dish and receiver were installed and set up, I told the practitioner that I wanted to learn how to do the installation to save sentient beings. The practitioner agreed, and I learned the skills in a short time.
At first, to get things going, we offered free installations. But people were hesitant to accept our offer, fearing trouble from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Fellow practitioners started by recommending it to friends and relatives. Some agreed, and we worked hard to install the satellite receivers and set them up for them. But people were very fearful and dared not switch to the NTD channel. They continued to watch the CCP’s television programs instead. Some people, afraid that the authorities might discover their satellite TV, secretly removed their dishes and receivers.
Such a good project hit the wall. After calmly looking within, I realized that my primary task was to tell people the facts and break the hold the CCP had over people. From then on, I went from street to street, telling people the truth about Dafa and the persecution and explaining how authentic and credible NTD’s programs were and how the CCP’s programs spread false and deceptive information to brainwash people. Most people, however, still turned me away.
I felt very anxious and wondered if I was destined to fail in this effort to help save people. But I remember Master said:
“A cultivator has no role models, and the path each person is to take is different…” (“Path,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress II)
“… cultivation depends on one’s own efforts, while transformation of gong is done by one’s master.” (Lecture One, Zhuan Falun)
I sat with both legs crossed and looked inward. I found many of my attachments. This sacred project of saving lives cannot be dealt with human notions—even impatience is a human notion. My concern about doing things outweighed my compassion for saving sentient beings, and I regarded doing things as cultivation. When I saw the receivers that I had installed by climbing up on a steep rooftop had been destroyed, I felt resentful and unbalanced. Once I recognized this and became determined to let go of my attachments, the situation changed.
Another practitioner asked me to install NTD for her uncle in the countryside, but she warned me repeatedly, “My aunt is seriously ill, and the hospital has sent her home. The family has already bought her funeral clothes and a burial plot, and there might be no hope for her. My uncle is a veteran and a long-time Party member. He has a very bad temper, and he’s been in a bad mood lately. Please don’t tell him the facts about Falun Dafa in case he becomes resentful. Let him watch NTD first, and he’ll gradually change on his own!”
When I got to her uncle’s house, the courtyard was in complete disarray. The outer room was littered with pots, bowls, and firewood. Besides the sick and bedridden aunt, the bedroom was bare except for a picture of Mao (the CCP’s former leader) on the wall. The man of the house had a cold, unfriendly expression on his face. “Shall I clarify the truth to them?’ I wondered. “The practitioner warned me not to, but if I miss this chance I may never have another because the woman doesn’t have much time left.”
I asked Master to strengthen me and give me wisdom so that I could save these two people, and an idea soon came to me. While figuring out how to route the cable, I muttered to myself but loud enough for them to hear, “No wonder this family is in such a state—it’s all because of that!”
“What? What?” the man, assuming I was a feng shui expert, rushed over and asked me anxiously.
I pointed to the picture of Mao Zedong and said, “When people die, they become ghosts, separated by the realms of Yin and Yang. It is traditional to invite ancestral spirits and offer sacrifices during the New Year to express gratitude and respect, but we don’t dare keep them for long—we send them off after two or three days. We even set off firecrackers to bid them farewell, otherwise we’re afraid our family members will get sick. How can you keep this in your home year-round, especially when your wife is so sickly?”
The man said doubtfully that many people believed that Mao became a kind of god and could protect people from evil spirits.
I explained, “Gods and Buddhas are compassionate. People don’t do bad deeds, because we are afraid of offending heaven and earth, but he [Mao] told people to fight against heaven and earth. People are afraid to say bad words about gods and Buddhas, but he called on people to tear down temples and smash Buddha statues. People dare not betray their teachers and ancestors, but he made people criticize Confucius and destroy ancestral graves. People are afraid of being childless, but he implemented the one-child policy. Those who fought alongside him did not have good ends. Good will be rewarded and evil will be punished. That’s the law of heaven, and Mao must pay for his evil deeds. So whoever worships him, will bring harm to their family, and their family will have endless troubles!”
Before I even finished, the man shouted for his son. The young man came in and asked, “What do you want, Dad?” The man pointed to the picture of Mao and said, “Tear that thing down.” I added, “Burn it in the stove.”
The fellow practitioner began to clarify the truth and encourage her family to withdraw from the CCP and its affiliated organizations. They all agreed to quit. We told them that if they sincerely repeated “Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” they would surely have good health, peace, and good fortune.
The installation went very smoothly, and the TV was set up in no time. I affirmed to them that the NTD programs were true and reliable, no lies or deception, and that watching them long-term would change the negative factors in their surroundings, creating a pure energy field that would greatly benefit their health.
Not long after, the practitioner told me that her aunt’s health had been getting better by the day since she started watching NTD and reciting the two phrases. By that time, she could even get out of bed and cook meals. “Her family is overjoyed,” the practitioner said.
One day, I took two practitioners who were learning installation skills to install NTD for a private company. An employee reported us to the police, who came and took us to the police station.
The police searched my house and found several letters I had written to police officers urging them to do good deeds. The officer in charge of our case came to me with the letters in his hand. He asked me, “Did you write these letters? You are quite talented.” I responded that Master told us to do this “so that you would understand the truth and be saved when disaster strikes.”
He nodded and left without saying a word. Several hours later, he released us. I knew Master saved us.
Because I do installations, I have had more and more direct contact with people. Before each initial contact, I ask Master for his blessing so that the installation will be successful and that those people can be saved. After doing the install and clarifying the truth to them, I give people Dafa information booklets or video cards (Micro TF SD cards) so that they can learn more about the situation and personally experience the beauty of Falun Dafa. After hearing what I have to say and watching the videos, more people have developed a desire to know the truth, and more people have installed NTD.
If people have an issue with their TV reception, I have to go to their homes to troubleshoot and maintain the system. The workload is even greater in rural areas where people live far apart. During holidays and festivals, when people are getting together with their families, they will turn on NTD and call me if they have lost the signal. Whatever the time or weather, even if I am eating, I will put down my bowl and set off to repair their system.
I have persevered on this path for nearly two decades, despite all the difficulties I have encountered. I understand that this is my cultivation path to assist Master in rectifying the Fa and saving sentient beings. I will definitely walk this path well and return home with our compassionate and great Master!
Thank you, Master!
