(Minghui.org) A woman in Beijing has been detained incommunicado for four months because of her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yu Zhanqin talked to a married couple about Falun Gong on the afternoon of July 4, 2025. The wife recorded her and then called the police. Officers from the Huairou District Domestic Security Office and 610 Office arrested Ms. Yu and took her to the Shunyi District Detention Center, where she remains. Her family has been kept in the dark about her status.
This isn’t the first time that Ms. Yu has been targeted for her faith. She was previously arrested on February 10, 2021, after being reported for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked. Due to her high blood pressure, she was denied admission by the Shunyi District Detention Center and released the next afternoon.
Ms. Yu was shopping at a clothing store on Huairou South Street on September 19, 2021, when she was reported by a vendor selling electric motorcycles, whom she had talked to before about Falun Gong. She was arrested by Longshan Police Station officers and held at the Huairou District Detention Center. She was later sentenced to six months and released on March 8, 2022.
