(Minghui.org) In 2009, a relative who worked for the local National Security Bureau, informed that the local 610 Office was conducting brainwashing sessions to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. He suggested that I write a guarantee letter renouncing Falun Gong, and he would put in a good word for me so I could avoid attending the sessions. I declined his offer and said I coudn’t do this.
Two days later while I mopping the floor someone knocked on my door. I opened it and two men stood there—a police officer and the head of the local 610 Office. I was irritated but I remembered what Master said—that these men also deserve to be saved and I should treat them with compassion.
I smiled and invited them in. After sitting down, the head of the 610 Office asked if I still practiced Falun Gong. I responded with a smile, “What do you think?” He said that I was in good health. I was in my 60s at that time. I told him I used to be plagued with illnesses but I was now in perfect health. He continued, “You neglect your family and go out to distribute Falun Gong flyers everywhere. You even wrote letters to us about karmic consequences.”
“You saw that I was cleaning my home when you arrived,” I responded, implying that I took care of my household. I also told him that karma only applies to those who do evil. “You look like a kind person, so nothing will happen to you.”
He asked about the book, Nine Commentaries on the Chinese Communist Party, and the Tiananmen Square self-immolation incident. I explained them to him and provided detailed evidence showing how the self-immolation was staged to defame and incite hatred toward Falun Gong.
I told him that Master Li teaches practitioners to be selfless, quoting Master’s words from “Non-Omission in Buddha-Nature,” Essentials for Further Advancement, Buddha, “... whatever you do or whatever you say, you must consider others first ....”
I also recounted my selfless deeds over the years, such as returning change that was overpaid, giving lost cash back to the owners, donating money and clothes during disasters, and caring for my grandchildren and other family members. I said the police threatened me with a three-year forced labor term if I didn’t renounce my faith, despite my efforts to become a better person.
I asked whether he came to demand a guarantee letter from me or to force me to hand over my Falun Gong books. I stated that I wouldn’t do either, as it would be shameful. He said he would not do such things. He praised me and asked me to come to the brainwashing center tomorrow to tell others about my experiences. I immediately declined with an excuse. He didn’t insist and they left.
Later, my daughter heard from the 610 Office agent’s mother-in-law, who was one of her coworkers, that he told his family that Falun Gong is good. He was later transferred to a different job.
During my conversation with the head of the 610 Office, I kept my righteous thoughts strong and maintained a peaceful attitude, so he would listen to my words and what I wouldn’t provoke his negative side. Thus, he made the right choice.
