(Minghui.org) A Dehui City, Jilin Province, resident has been admitted to the Jilin Province Women’s Prison to serve a 4.5-year term for her faith in Falun Gong.
Ms. Wang Baoru, 58, was arrested on July 2, 2023, by officers from the Zhenlai County Police Station of the nearby Baicheng City, after they discovered that she had sent information about Falun Gong on her cellphone. She was detained at the Baicheng City Detention Center and later sentenced to prison by a court there.
Ms. Wang took up Falun Gong in the spring of 1997 and she credits the practice for improving her health. Because she remained firm in her faith after the Chinese communist regime ordered the persecution in 1999, she has been repeatedly targeted in the past 26 years.
Ms. Wang was arrested on December 23, 2009, while working at the Deda Meat Processing Factory. The arresting officers, including Sun Chengshan, Ge Xuquan, and Zhang Xiaoqiang of the Dehui City Domestic Security Division, confiscated her cellphone, electric motorcycle key, and home key. They then raided her residence and seized her Falun Gong books and other personal belongings. They left her home with the door wide open.
After taking Ms. Wang to the domestic security division, the police handcuffed her behind her back and interrogated her. When she refused to answer their question, they beat her on the head and face, and stomped on her toes. After that, she was admitted to a lockup. The room had no heat and the cold temperature aggravated her leg injury. She was given a one-year forced labor camp term after 15 days.
While serving time at the Heizuizi Women’s Forced Labor Camp, Ms. Wang was forced to work without pay for long hours. Meanwhile, she was also subjected to various physical abuse and given very poor food. She had three heart attacks, as well as suffering from low blood pressure, severe back injury, and a rectal prolapse. Her menstrual period stopped for a few months.
