(Minghui.org) The Huixian County Court in Henan Province sentenced two women to three years each at the end of November 2024 for their shared faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Ms. Yan Yanfang was arrested at home on June 28, 2024, by officers from the Huixian County Domestic Security Division and its subordinate Mengzhuang Police Station. They took her to the Xinxiang City Detention Center. Xinxiang oversees Huixian. Prior to her latest arrest, officer Guo Ruhong and others raided her home in early November 2023 and detained her for 15 days.
Ms. Liu Furui, around 63, was arrested in September 2024. She was previously arrested on December 19, 2019, after surveillance cameras recorded her distributing Falun Gong informational materials. Her Falun Gong books were confiscated. She was held in the Huixian City Lockup for an unknown amount of time.
Ms. Liu and Ms. Yan stood trial at the Huixian City Court on November 26, 2024. It is unclear whether they were tried jointly or separately. Days later, they were each sentenced to three years in prison.
A third local practitioner, Ms. Chen Zhaoxia, was arrested in early November 2024 and appeared in the Huixian City Court in recent days. She is awaiting a verdict.
