(Minghui.org) An 83-year-old woman in Fushun City, Liaoning Province, was recently sentenced to three years for practicing Falun Gong. Ms. Wei Shaomin has been admitted to the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
This is the third time that Ms. Wei, a retired worker of the Fushun Excavator Factory, has been incarcerated for her faith since the Chinese communist regime began to persecute Falun Gong in 1999. She was previously given three years of forced labor in 2007 and sentenced to seven and a half years in 2014.
Ms. Wei’s latest arrest took place on August 8, 2022, after a plainclothes agent spotted her talking to people about Falun Gong. The agent followed her onto a bus and arrested her when she got off. She was released on bail after a ten-day detention and paying a 1,000-yuan fine.
The police later submitted Ms. Wei’s case to the local procuratorate. They took her back into custody at the Fushun City Detention Center in July 2024. Her family recently confirmed her prison sentence and transfer, but details about her indictment, trial, and sentencing aren’t clear.
