(Minghui.org) After reading an article on Minghui.org that shares experiences on clarifying the truth with cellphones, I gave it much thought and believe that this approach is no longer a good way to talk to people about Dafa.

Many practitioners in China have switched from using conventional ways to clarify the truth to using cell phones. At first, it helped those who did not go out to clarify the truth for fear of being persecuted. These practitioners later developed strong attachments to their cellphones and to comfort. There is no sure-fire technique for eliminating a person’s attachments behind his or her fear. By using cellphones, these practitioners were able to hide their attachments and ended up believing that they could clarify the truth without actually working, suffering, and giving it much thought.

After seeing what was being done in China, many practitioners outside of China began to use cellphones to clarify the truth. As far as I know, initiatives involving phone calls can be very expensive, and they are slowly fading away because of the CCP’s blockade.

Sending short messages is also expensive. I have asked people who clarify the truth using cellphone messages how cost-effective it is. They say that it does cost a lot to send them, and there is little response. But they are quite defensive and say that they will continue to do it even if it means that only one person is saved. There is really not much others can do because they are spending their own money or can find people willing to pay for the project.

One of the things they do is sneak messages into strangers’ phones through Bluetooth. This often triggers negative reactions in those who receive the messages. This is similar to people sneaking flyers into your handbag when you are not looking. A non-practitioner once told me that he found several Falun Dafa flyers in his shopping bag when he visited a tourist destination. He had no idea who put them there or when. He was offended and said that he’d make sure to walk around practitioners the next time he saw them.

Oftentimes, our intentions are good, but we force ourselves on others. We forget to consider how they will perceive our actions and if they would approve. After a while, the general public might start to harbor negative opinions about Falun Dafa, making it harder for us to clarify the truth.

Also, there is a lack of quality control in the texts and multimedia messages sent via cellphones. Some of them are less than ideal, while others are very aggressive, and still others contain information unsuitable for non-practitioners.

When it is getting harder and harder for cellphone messages to help clarify the truth, we need to search within, think, and discover our problems. Instead of defending what we do, we should examine the actual results and consequences of those efforts, because this is part of our cultivation.
