(Minghui.org) A 53-year-old resident of Dalian City, Liaoning Province was admitted to the Dalian City Prison on March 25, 2025 to serve a 4.5-year term for his faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.
Mr. Cong Wei was arrested at work on May 9, 2024 and sentenced to four and a half years and fined 30,000 yuan on November 12, 2024.
Without holding a hearing, the Dalian City Intermediate Court ruled on December 18, 2024 to uphold Mr. Cong’s original sentence. Presiding judge Zheng Wenlong, judges Yu Bin and Wang Di, clerk Cao Liqian, and assistant to judges, Liu Lei signed the ruling.
During the required physical examination for prison admission, Mr. Cong was found to have severe high blood pressure and diabetes. Yet he was still admitted and is now held in the ward for the infirm and elderly.
Prior to his latest prison sentence, Mr. Cong was repeatedly persecuted for his faith. He was once given a 2-year forced labor term and a 1.5-year prison term. For details of his latest and past persecution, see the related reports below.
