(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa practitioners from Houston, Austin, College Station, New Braunfels, and Louisiana gathered at Oyster Creek Park in Houston on May 11, 2025, to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day, a day that marks Master Li Hongzhi’s birthday and the anniversary of Falun Dafa’s introduction to the world.

Under sunny skies and a light breeze, the event began with a demonstration of the Falun Dafa exercises. Dressed in bright yellow, practitioners of different ethnic backgrounds practiced together on the lawn to peaceful music. As their calm expressions and gentle movements drew people to stop and watch, others told them about Falun Dafa’s guiding principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance.

Practitioners did the exercises at Oyster Creek Park in Houston on May 11 to celebrate World Falun Dafa Day.

The event also featured cultural performances, including singing, instrumentals, and the waist drums.

Practitioners showcased the peace and beauty of Falun Dafa and expressed their gratitude to Master through their performances.

Because it was Mother’s Day, the park was filled with visitors, and some stopped to watch. Some took informational flyers and lotus pendants with messages like “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance,” while others learned the exercises. Several called it a joyful and meaningful experience.

Learning the exercises and about the practice

Dahlia, who was visiting from Katy with her father, said the event was “a pleasant surprise.” She was impressed by the performances, asked about the meaning of the lotus flower, and even practiced saying “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance” in Chinese.

Inspired by Falun Dafa’s health benefits, she encouraged her father, who was sitting in a wheelchair, to try the practice. She was glad to hear about free local practice sites and online resources, and said she was interested in learning how to practice Falun Dafa.

Dahlia and her father watched the performances.

Mia was also very interested in Falun Dafa. A Spanish speaker, she asked for extra Spanish-language materials to share with friends and family. She said that everyone can relate to the values of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, especially in today’s stressful world. She asked for a flyer in English for her son, and jokingly said, “He could use some help with being kind.”

“The Light of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance Changed My Life”

Khoa Do, a young practitioner originally from a wealthy Vietnamese family, said he once led a reckless lifestyle fueled by alcohol, drugs, and partying while working in Vietnam’s top jewelry company. His drug abuse led to severe health issues and near mental collapse. During the darkest period of his life, he turned to Buddhism, hoping to heal and save his lost soul. However, none the practices he encountered were what he was looking for.

In 2017, Khoa ran into a good friend, who shared her understanding of life, human nature, and cultivation. Koha was amazed at her profound knowledge and asked how she knew these precious principles. That’s how he obtained Falun Dafa’s book Zhuan Falun.

After reading the book, he was deeply impressed and began practicing Falun Dafa. His energy returned, and he quit alcohol and drugs, no longer needed to take medicine, and regained his health. He became calm and peaceful, and his temper and personality also changed dramatically. He no longer got angry with his parents and knew how to truly care for them, realizing he was grateful for them.

After moving to the U.S. in 2018, Khoa became a restaurant manager, working 15 to 17 hours a day. Despite challenges, he followed Falun Dafa’s principles to improve himself and constantly eliminated his attachments, such as jealousy, competitiveness, and resentment. Over time, the work environment grew more harmonious and efficient. Coworkers praised him for his positivity and leadership. “I told them it’s because I follow the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. They said, ‘Falun Dafa is good!’”

Khoa Do said he’s benefited physically and mentally from practicing Falun Dafa, and he is extremely grateful to Master Li.

Now living in Houston with his wife and young son, Khoa is free from his past addictions. His wife proudly calls him “a good man.” Reflecting on his former life, Khoa said, “Without the compassion of Master Li, my life would have been consumed by darkness and pain. The light of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance transformed me. I’m truly grateful for Master’s compassionate salvation!”
