“Beautiful and Gorgeous Performance with Eastern Charm”
Syu-jin Choi, Member of the National Assembly, saw Shen Yun in Gwacheon on May 10. (NTD Television)
“It was as if we saw the most glorious period in Chinese history. It was a beautiful and gorgeous performance with Eastern charm,” Ms. Choi said.
“The stage was gorgeous and colorful. Although the music was mainly traditional Chinese music, it was integrated with elements of Western music. The music, staging, and dance movements were all very creative, making people feel that it was magical and interesting. I enjoyed this performance very much.
“Through this performance, we got the chance to re-examine China. When people mention China, they often only think of the Communist Party, but the Eastern world once had a glorious era, with culture and arts at their peak.
“This performance allowed us to look back on the China of that era and rekindle its glory.
“This is the most sincere and beautiful face of China. I sincerely hope that such traditional culture can be revived,” she said.
Chair of Suseong District Council Presents Certificate of Appreciation

After seeing Shen Yun’s opening night performance at the Suseong Artpia on May 1, Gyu-hwa Jo, Chair of the Suseong District Council in Daegu, returned the next day to present the company with the certificate of appreciation. Four dancers accepted the certificate on behalf of the company.
“We express our deep gratitude to the world-renowned Shen Yun Performing Arts from the United States for awakening Daegu citizens to the precious value of lost traditional culture through a world-class performance at the Suseong Artpia Theater in our culturally rich city of Daegu,” the certificate reads.
“We hope Shen Yun will continue to deliver messages of inspiration and hope to modern audiences through traditional cultural performances. We wish for Shen Yun’s continued growth and enduring glory.”
After seeing Shen Yun on May 1, Ms. Jo described it as a profound experience.
“It was as if immortals and celestial maidens descended from heaven and completely captivated the audience,” she said. “It felt like both my body and soul were cleansed and healed.”
Ms. Jo noted that Shen Yun is facing challenges in South Korea right now, as the Chinese Embassy has been pressuring theaters to cancel the show.
“A performance should be regarded as art, and I simply can’t understand why this kind of situation is happening,” she said, and stressed that continued government support and promotion are essential.
“A Truly Exceptional Work of Integrated Art”
Young-hee Lee, renowned Korean writer, commentator, and social activist, saw Shen Yun in Gwacheon on May 10.
“Dance is an art expressed through the body, but today, I truly felt the purification of the soul,” Ms. Lee said.
“The performance today showcased authentic Chinese traditional culture and classical dance, with movements representing different eras. The entire experience was dreamlike, with many gestures seemingly floating through the air—continuous, graceful, and fluid. This is the first time I’ve seen such a performance,” she said.
“The music was flawless, almost like listening to a perfect CD. At one point, I wondered if it was truly a live performance, but after observing closely, I realized it was indeed performed live, perfectly integrated with the dance. With such an outstanding orchestra, top-tier dance, and carefully crafted content, it all came together to create a truly exceptional work of integrated art,” she said.
Ms. Lee strongly recommended that families attend Shen Yun together. “Shen Yun is a performance that can be enjoyed by people of all ages, from children to the elderly. While there are many idol or pop concerts nowadays, these events often have age restrictions. Shen Yun, however, is suitable for all ages, especially for children. Today’s kids are often immersed in idol culture and have limited exposure to traditional stories and dance. The 5,000 years of Chinese history and culture presented by Shen Yun is also of great educational value.”
A political reporter, Ms. Lee said her work had been draining in recent months, but “today’s performance truly purified my spirit.
“Today is Shen Yun’s final performance in Korea, and it means a lot to me,” she said, adding that a friend she brought to the performance thanked her for introducing Shen Yun. “I heard that Shen Yun changes its program every year, so if they come back to Korea next year, I’ll definitely be there. I’m looking forward to the new show.”
“Extremely Precious”
Attorney Ju-hyeon Park saw Shen Yun in Gwacheon on May 9. (NTD Television)
“I am deeply moved by Shen Yun Performing Arts’ commitment to restoring traditional Chinese culture and their awakening of the long-lost longing deep in our hearts,” Mr. Park said.
“I have always loved China, especially its culture and history. But in recent years I have gradually realized that modern China’s traditional culture has been severely damaged by the Communist Party.
“The Communist Party erased China’s history and deep ideology through movements such as the Cultural Revolution. However, Shen Yun’s performances are reviving China’s traditional culture before communism and are extremely precious.
“I hope that such performances can be widely spread not only in Korea, but also around the world, allowing people to again see the Chinese culture that I love and awaken the resonance in people’s hearts,” he said.
“A Wonderful Performance with Great Depth and Artistry”

“The meaning conveyed calms people’s minds and souls. It is a wonderful performance with great depth and artistry,” Mr. Park said.
“Shen Yun is a cultural and artistic feast that has amazed the world. The eight touring companies are performing around the world and have touched countless audiences.
“I’m really surprised,” he said, “Both the music and the costumes cannot be seen in other performances. The use of colors, the live symphony orchestra, the melody of the music, and every detail make people feel unprecedented shock and tranquility. You can’t help but think, if we can hear such music often in our daily lives, how great it would be.
“The most shocking thing about this performance is the human rights persecution, such as live organ harvesting, and the oppression suffered by practitioners.
“Improving health through cultivation is just like exercising our bodies in daily life. Practitioners do not smoke or drink, but they are persecuted and even have their organs harvested live. The number is said to be very large. China has even become the main source of organs in the world. This kind of persecution and negative events are really heartbreaking,” he said.
“Presenting the Essence of Eastern Culture”
Beok-gang Shim, director of the Korean Institute of National Culture, saw Shen Yun in Chuncheon on May 7. (The Epoch Times)
“This is the only production that can accurately showcase China before communist China to the world,” said Mr. Shim.
“The performance not only showcased traditional Chinese culture but also highlighted the cultures of ethnic groups such as the Tibetans and Yi, presenting the essence of Eastern culture,” he said.
Mr. Shim described the performance as “a true world-class production that encapsulates 5,000 years of Eastern culture in just two hours.”
“In today’s world, we often see artistic works created by human hands, but a performance like Shen Yun’s can only come from enlightened beings or the divine. Such performances are rare, which is what makes Shen Yun truly extraordinary.
“While material progress has brought comfort, people seldom have the chance to connect with spiritual culture. Although the body may be at ease, the mind is not always at peace. Experiencing performances like this allows us to embrace the values of Eastern spiritual culture, enriching the lives of people today,” he said.
“This performance showcases traditional China, something the current regime cannot present. I believe that, in the near future, the people of China will also have the chance to experience it,” Mr. Shim said.
“Shen Yun Conveys Light and Hope”
Choreographer Geum-sil Jeon saw saw Shen Yun in Chuncheon on May 7. (The Epoch Times)
“Shen Yun conveys light and hope, and is a symbol of beauty,” Ms. Jeon said.
“Shen Yun not only inspires people’s imagination, but also gives audiences hope and positive messages for the future.
“The abilities of Shen Yun performers are truly outstanding,” she said. “In terms of skills, such as flips and jumps, they are world-class. I have always wanted to see this performance in person. As someone in the relevant field, I think this performance not only has storytelling, but also contains current events, conveys messages, and is educational. Moreover, the performance of the performers, the story setup, and different aspects are all excellent. Including the overall combined setup of the costumes and choreography, which also amazed me.
“I sincerely hope that the younger generations in our dance field, and even all those working in the arts, can watch it once in person,” she said.
“I Am Deeply Grateful to the Hardworking Shen Yun Artists”
Dayner Kim, a well-known Korean YouTuber, saw Shen Yun in Gwacheon on May 9. (The Epoch Times)
“Thank you so much to all the hardworking artists! Because of you, I see hope. I believe that China is still a country with a future,” he said.
“Watching today’s performance left me feeling incredibly grateful—but also deeply angered,” he said, explaining that he condemned the religious persecution carried out by the Chinese communist regime, which has extended into South Korea.
Traditional Chinese culture is divinely inspired, and this connection between heaven, earth, and humankind is prevalent in Shen Yun’s performances for many audience members. Mr. Kim said this was depicted majestically in the finale, which showed the Creator.
He thought it an inspiring scene for people of today, regardless of their religious background.
“Though the expressions and beliefs may differ, it is the presence of the divine that inspires humility and a desire in humanity to become more virtuous,” he said. Meanwhile, the Chinese communist regime is the antithesis of this, he added, and “using religious differences as a cover to take dirty money from the Chinese Communist Party and block Shen Yun—that’s pure evil.”
Mr. Kim added that the universal values of truth, compassion, and forbearance of Falun Gong practitioners portrayed in the performance was deeply moving.
“I was truly grateful to see such kind-hearted people from China,” he said. “The performance showed that there are still people of faith in China—good, sincere people. It reminded me that there are many in China who are genuinely kind and deserving of appreciation.
“In conclusion, I am deeply grateful to the hardworking Shen Yun artists. Because of you, I’ve seen hope, and I believe China is still a country with hope. Thank you, Shen Yun!” he said.
