(Minghui.org) It’s been 29 years since I read Zhuan Falun and began practicing Falun Dafa in June 1996. I’m a retired military officer. The officers I used to work with have all retired and work in various government branches in supervisory positions. While we celebrate the 33rd World Falun Dafa Day and the 30th anniversary of the publication of Zhuan Falun, I’d like to tell you how the veterans are circumventing the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) Internet Firewall to learn the truth about Falun Dafa by reading websites outside of China.

Veterans in Beijing Spread Falun Dafa Videos and Software to Circumvent the Firewall

I used to be in several chat groups made up mostly of veterans. The chat group with veterans and four police officers in Beijing was the most outspoken. The members knew that I practiced Falun Dafa and that I was persecuted. One of them messaged me, “If you come to Beijing, call me and I’ll pick you up.” I could feel his sincerity in the short message.

One day I went to Beijing, and called one of the veterans. He let the others know that I was in Beijing, and soon 17 joined us, and reserved a restaurant. I previously clarified the truth to all of them, some of them wept after hearing how I was tortured. One man’s wife was tortured for years in a forced labor camp because she refused to renounce her faith. They all sympathized with what happened to her.

One day I saw a message in the Beijing chat group titled: “City secretary investigated for corruption.” When I clicked on the message, I found out that it contained links to Falun Dafa videos, including the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party, False Fire, Now and For the Future, Harvested Alive, and the 2016 World Falun Dafa Day Parade in New York. It also included software to bypass the firewall. The title was just a camouflage to avoid censorship. I felt so happy that they were helping to spread the truth.

I passed the message to more veterans whom I trusted. One of the veterans in Shandong Province sent me a photo of the calligraphy he wrote to encourage me.

I still admire the courage of the veteran in Beijing when he posted the message eight years ago. Under that kind of political censorship and persecution, in the city where the CCP strictly monitors everyone, he spread the truth of Falun Dafa on the Internet, which was like risking his life. It’s been years and I believe everyone in the group is doing well.

Chief of Staff Agrees with Falun Dafa Practitioners and Accepts the Software

I ran into the former military chief of staff near the city hall, where he worked as a deputy director for the city after retiring from the military. I told him that after the persecution started, I planned to go to Beijing to speak up for Falun Dafa. “At the train station, a police officer arrested me. I was then beaten by four officers who tried to extort a confession from me, and I was later given three years in a forced labor camp,” I said. I also told him most of the practitioners who were arrested for trying to go to Beijing were put in forced labor camps, detained, fined, fired from their jobs, or sentenced to prison. While incarcerated, they were often tortured.

The former chief of staff told me, “When the persecution is so severe, and the practitioners still insisted to go to Beijing to appeal, this tells me that the practitioners are right and the government is wrong. The government must examine itself to see what it’s done wrong. No civilians want to risk their lives to go to Beijing unless they are wronged.”

A few years later my wife and I ran into the former chief again. He told my wife that when I was in the military, everyone knew that I practiced Falun Dafa. “He is the most outstanding commander in our brigade,” he said. While we spoke, another veteran joined us. He used to be a military doctor and we lived in the same building for over a decade.

Knowing that his health declined, and the former chief had diabetes, I gave each of them a copy of the software. I explained to them that they should use it to read Falun Dafa books and Minghui articles, which would help improve their health. “I have been illness-free for over two decades,” I told them. The chief responded, “Sounds good, I will go home and read online.”

Director of Education Goes Online and Learns the CCP’s Real History

My partner in the military was assigned to the city bureau of education after he retired. We used to be in the same unit, and lived in the same dorm. His handwriting was beautiful like that in the copybook. He also knew a lot about military combat, and was one of the best.

I went to visit him at the education bureau one time and saw that his desk was full of documents. He wrote, reviewed, and corrected all of the documents in the bureau. I clarified the truth to him and told him what happened to the practitioners in the city. He was sympathetic.

I went to see him often after that, and talked to him more about Falun Gong and the persecution. One day, I suggested that he quit the CCP and its affiliated organizations. Without hesitation, he said, “I quit.”

I gave him the bypass software and Falun Dafa’s informational materials. By reading online articles outside of China, he knew that the content of the CCP’s history in the text books is phony, and said that the real history of the CCP is in the Nine Commentaries. He also knew the principles of Falun Dafa, and said that all the practitioners he knew were good people.

Justice Bureau Division Head Says the CCP is Finished

A veteran who worked as a division head at the city justice bureau and I live in the same community. One day I ran into him, so I clarified the truth to him. I reminded him not to participate in the persecution. When I told him the stories of those who participated in the persecution receiving retribution and ending up in prisons, such as Wang Lijun, Bo Xilai and Zhou Yongkang, he seemed very interested.

When he heard that the CCP forcibly harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners and profited from the sales of their organs, he was shocked, “If this is true, the CCP is done.”

One time I told him that Han Guangsheng, a former chief of the justice bureau in Shenyang City, defected when he went to Canada on an official trip. Han quit the CCP, applied for asylum, and exposed many of the CCP’s crimes. I explained to him that by doing that, Han chose a bright future for himself. He told me that he knew Han personally, “We studied together, and he was a talented person.”

We saw each other often, and I told him the truth whenever I could. Remembering that he once asked me how to get on the websites outside of China, I gave him the software and encouraged him to use it to know more about Falun Dafa. From then on, he treated me like a good friend.

Former Armed Police Experienced CCP’s Corruption Firsthand

One day I went to a shopping mall and saw six people step out of a black car. The driver was in his 50s, and I went up to talk to him because I felt he was a veteran. He told me that he retired from the armed police force. We hit it off and I asked him, “I read in the overseas news that there is a price list for buying promotions in the military, is it true?”

He told me it was true, “When I was 48, I wanted to move up from where I was, so I worked hard for two years. According to the price list, I had to offer between one to three million yuan, and even that the position wasn’t guaranteed. I decided to retire.”

According to him, the price ranged from 200 thousand yuan to become a second lieutenant to ten to twenty million to become lieutenant General or General.

As his family wanted to leave, I gave him the software and said, “So it seems that the news I read outside of China is true. This software can help you see more true information.”

Later I ran his father-in law, who was separated from them. He told me that he couldn’t move around much because of his illness. “A you a member of the CCP’s organizations? Heaven is eliminating the CCP and you should quit the organizations to stay safe.” He immediately said, “Yes, and I quit.” He thanked me when I told him to recite “Falun Dafa is good” to stay healthy.

The veterans I met had different ranks and were of all ages. The oldest was in his 80s. They were given a copy of the software, which helped them bypass the firewall and learn the truth from overseas media outlets. This is what the CCP fears the most—the military waking up.
