(Minghui.org) World Falun Dafa Day is a special day that should be celebrated by everyone around the world, not just by Falun Dafa practitioners. When I read the Minghui article, “Let’s Consider the Significance of the First World Falun Dafa Day,” I couldn’t have agreed more.
Last year we held a celebration at 228 Peace Park on World Falun Dafa Day. The activities included performances from the flag and drum team, a band, the waist drum team, and our young practitioners. However, most of the participants were practitioners, and few everyday people came to our event.
This year was different. We still held the celebration at 228 Peace Park. It poured down rain in the morning, but the rain stopped ten minutes before the event started, thanks to Master. A lot of everyday people showed up throughout the event. The festive and lively performances drew people to use the outdoor seating area and watch the performances. When they received Falun Dafa flyers and lotus charms from practitioners dressed as celestial maidens, they seemed genuinely happy. Some people wished the practitioners well, and wanted to take photographs with the “celestial maidens.” The atmosphere was joyous.
It felt like a door has been opened, and that people were coming to learn about Falun Dafa and celebrate with us. It was quite touching. Also, when practitioners dressed in everyday clothes rather than yellow and white, along with our righteous thoughts to promote Falun Dafa, it encouraged other people to join in.
The performances this year were better than last year. The performances from the band and the flag and drum team emitted righteous energy. The classical Chinese dance was professional. When the dancers gracefully lifted one leg above their heads and stood elegantly on the other, it was eye-catching. Their dance movements showcased the elegance and grace of traditional Chinese women, which caught everyone’s attention.
I felt very inspired after the event, feeling that the event had indeed brought people to learn more about Falun Dafa. It is my hope that we can make the performances more attractive every year, and make World Falun Dafa Day an everyday people’s event, celebrated by everyone.
