(Minghui.org) Two women in Xi’an City, Shaanxi Province are facing indictment for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

Ms. Zhu Ximei, 64, and Ms. Wang Cuiping, 62, distributed Falun Gong informational materials at the Xihang Garden Residential Community in Baqiao District on April 10, 2025. Chang Lei, Bai Tianyi, and Zhang Chongying reported her to the Xinzhu Police Station, which in turn notified its supervising agency, the Baqiao District Police Department.

Wang Yajun, the newly appointed chief at the Baqiao District Police Department, established a case against the two women on the grounds that they “used a cult to undermine law enforcement,” a standard pretext used by the communist regime to frame Falun Gong practitioners.

Wang further labeled the case “classified” and dispatched agents to raid the two women’s homes on April 23. The Falun Gong books and informational materials confiscated from them were sent over to the police department’s criminal investigation team for “verification and authentication.” By law, only a third, independent agency can examine and authenticate prosecution evidence.

Both women were put under criminal detention on April 24. The Baqiao District Procuratorate issued formal arrest warrants for them on May 29, and they are facing indictment at the Baqiao District Detention Center.

Ms. Wang insisted that she broke no law in raising awareness of the persecution of Falun Gong. Her husband, who has an illness, did not dare to stand up for her after being intimidated by the police.

Ms. Zhu was previously given administrative detention in December 2023 for distributing Falun Gong informational materials. She developed schizophrenia in her 20s and was unable to fall asleep at night. After she took up Falun Gong, she made a full recovery. Her symptoms relapsed following her latest arrest. Her family showed the police her medical records and requested that she be released on bailbut to no avail.
