(Minghui.org) In January 1999 my wife went to a Falun Dafa practitioner’s home in our village to listen to a recording of Master Li’s lectures. When she came home she said, “This practice is very good. Many people in our village recovered from their illnesses after practicing it.” My wife had severe back pain, and my family’s financial situation was not very good so we had no money to pay for treatment. I told her that she should practice it! Every night after dinner, my wife read the Fa and did the exercises with other practitioners. As a result, all her illnesses disappeared. I was very happy to see that she was no longer suffering.
Awakening From the CCP’s Lies
However, seeing an increasing number of people practicing Falun Dafa, the then-CCP leader Jiang Zemin grew jealous and stirred up trouble in Tianjin, and had practitioners arrested. My wife, like other practitioners across China, went to Beijing to petition, demanding the release of the arrested practitioners in Tianjin. As the situation grew increasingly dire, I became fearful. I knew the methods used by the CCP to persecute people in China were unimaginable. I urged her to stop practicing and said, “If they don’t allow you to practice, then don’t!”
She responded, “It’s such a great practice. Why can’t I practice it?!” Unable to persuade her, I began beating and scolding her, not allowing her to leave home or read the Fa.
After July 20, 1999, the situation only worsened, as if the sky was about to fall. I never knew when a police car would arrive. Fearing that my wife would be persecuted, I began hiding her Dafa books and refused to tell her where they were. I later began tearing them up. One night, I woke up and found she was missing. I searched the entire village but couldn’t find her. A few days later the village officials informed me that she had been arrested and detained at the town government office after she went to Beijing to petition for Dafa. I took our six-year-old child to visit her and I scolded her. After a month of detention, around the Chinese New Year, the police demanded I pay 6,000 yuan to release her. If I refused, they would not allow her to wear a coat or shoes. I had no choice but to sell my corn to raise the 6,000 yuan needed for my wife’s release.
On January 25, 2001, the TV reported that Falun Dafa practitioners self-immolated on Tiananmen Square. I immediately decided that I couldn’t let my wife practice, or it would destroy our family. I told her, “Falun Dafa practitioners are self-immolating on Tiananmen Square now. Are you still going to practice?”
She responded, “That’s fake! No true practitioner would commit suicide. Master tells us that suicide is a sin.”
One day, she gave me a CD to watch. I saw that it said the “Tiananmen self-immolation” case was a hoax. I watched it and listened to the explanation. After I watched it I realized that I had been deceived. The self-immolation was truly a hoax. I had been fooled!
My thinking gradually changed, and I began to have a positive view of Falun Dafa. My wife changed dramatically after she studied the Fa. She truly lived up to, “Not strike back when hit or talk back when cursed at.” (“Lecture Given at the Conference in Sydney”) Before she began practicing Falun Dafa, she was quite assertive, but afterward, she became a completely different person. Although I appeared to be strict with her, I didn’t really oppose her practice. I thought, if she wanted to practice Falun Dafa, then let her.
In January 2004, I had neck pain, my head felt numb after sleeping at night, and I broke out in sweats on the back of my head. My wife said to me, “Just do the Falun Dafa exercises and you’ll be fine.” After I read the Fa, I realized how much Master endured for practitioners, yet he doesn’t ask for even the slightest reward. I went from being a wicked person who slandered Master and the Fa to practicing Falun Dafa. I sincerely repented and confessed my wrongdoings to Master.
Clarify the Truth With Every Opportunity
As I studied the Fa more deeply, I realized I should do the three things Master asked us to do. My wife and I took truth-clarification materials to neighboring villages at night to distribute them. We taped them to utility poles and hung banners of “Falun Dafa is Good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is Good” and “The World Needs Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.”
One night, it was pitch dark, when my wife, our child, and I went to distribute materials in a village about two miles away. Because it was dark, we couldn’t see anyone. When I arrived at a door, someone asked, “What are you doing?”
I was startled, but I quickly calmed down and replied, “I’m here to bring you blessings.” I handed him the materials, and he thanked me. My son told his mom that his dad has really changed.
In the winter of 2006, practitioners came to our area to show us how to install satellite dishes to watch New Tang Dynasty (NTD) TV. I learned the installation techniques, and after mastering them, I installed NTD for many practitioners and the public. A friend from a neighboring village has watched NTD with the satellite dish for six or seven years. When we met he said, “I can go a day without eating, but I can’t go a day without watching NTD.”
Over time, I slacked off in Fa-study and developed the attachment to taking on more tasks. The old forces took advantage of my cultivation state. On the afternoon of January 14, 2012, while we removed the CCP’s slogans that slandered Falun Dafa someone reported us. My wife and I were illegally sentenced to five and a half years in prison.
After we were released, I intensified my Fa-study, did the exercises, and sent righteous thoughts, while constantly communicating with other practitioners on the Fa. I quickly immersed myself in the current of Fa-rectification in our area. However, due to the long period of persecution, our family had no source of income, so I had to find work.
Through an introduction, I joined company A that undertakes highway projects. I held myself to high standards, working diligently and always taking the lead in the hard and tiring work. This earned my boss’s appreciation, and he praised me in front of others. I told him, “I’m a Falun Dafa practitioner. Our Master asks us to be better than good people.” I clarified the truth to everyone I met and encouraged them to quit the CCP. The company had a small number of staff, and nearly all of them quit.
When my boss learned that my wife and I had been imprisoned and that our family was struggling financially, he found me a job at company B that would pay a salary of 6,000 yuan per month with four days off. He said, “You’ll earn more there, and the work isn’t heavy. I can’t bear to have you leave but I want to help you.”
After arriving at company B, my boss called me in and said, “Your former boss told me about you. Falun Dafa practitioners are all good people. I’ve heard about the persecution and know that reciting ‛Falun Dafa is good, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good’ can save one’s life in times of crisis.”
I was thrilled to hear this, and said, “You’re so lucky.” Because the other practitioner clarified the truth to my boss so well, it laid the foundation for me to talk to my to my coworkers about Dafa at the new company.
I took every opportunity to clarify the truth. Those who understood quit the CCP. However, some people clung to the CCP. Many of those who quit were blessed. Here is a typical example. One day, a coworker working on a boiler had an accident. The negative pressure pipe was blocked by raw materials, turning the negative pressure into positive pressure. He was unscrewing the small cover on the boiler’s main cover. Just one screw away from opening the small cover, the three screws of 16mm (about 0.6 inch) diameter which secured the main cover snapped, deforming the cover and causing the raw materials to spurt out. My coworker was thrown three or four meters away from the boiler onto the platform. The raw materials in the boiler spilled all over the workshop.
He was fine, and only had a few blisters on his right hand. Afterward, he said to me, “I thank your Master for saving me. Otherwise, I might have died.”
I replied, “As long as we understand the truth and know that Falun Dafa is good, Master protects us in times of danger.”
