(Minghui.org) Falun Dafa (Falun Gong) practitioners held a rally in front of the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne, Australia, on September 13, 2025. They congratulated the 450 million Chinese people who have renounced their current and former memberships in the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its affiliated organizations. Their colorful banners and performances by the Tian Guo Marching Band and the practitioners’ waist drum team attracted passersby to stop and learn about the event.
Since The Epoch Times published the Nine Commentaries on Communist Party editorial series in November 2004, more than 450 million people have withdrawn from the CCP and its affiliated youth organizations.
Mr. Sun of the Global Service Center for Quitting the CCP in Melbourne addressed the rally and said that those who have chosen to quit the CCP “represent the awakening of life, the revival of conscience, and humanity’s struggle against tyranny.”
He said that for over two decades, Falun Dafa practitioners have continuously raised awareness of the CCP’s lies, violence, and culture of terror, helping people recognize the CCP’s true nature. He also said that the CCP’s crimes are not limited to China; the regime has also infiltrated free countries, including Australia. He highlighted the CCP’s transnational repression and how it silences critics, imposes ideological control over the Chinese diaspora, and exports tyranny around the world through espionage, infiltration, bribery, and manipulation.
Several Melbourne community leaders attended the event to show their support. They said the withdrawal movement is key for Chinese people to choose freedom and move toward a brighter future. They called on more Chinese people to recognize the CCP’s evil, reject its influence, and counter its transnational repression.

Efforts to Counter the CCP’s Persecution
Peter Westmore, former president of the National Civic Council (NCC), addresses the rally.
Peter Westmore, a major contributor to Australia’s News Weekly magazine and former president of the National Civic Council (NCC), an Australian think tank, said he admires practitioners’ persistent efforts to raise awareness of the CCP’s persecution over many years.
Mr. Westmore advised those who harbor illusions about the CCP to recognize reality. “The CCP is based upon repression, and the principal victims of that are the Chinese people themselves,” he said. He pointed to the deprivation of freedom for Hong Kong residents as proof that the CCP will continue to maintain its rule through repression. Mr. Westmore also said that the primary purpose of quitting the CCP is to break the CCP’s rule and that this evil regime will ultimately perish.
Gao Jian, Director of the Melbourne Chinese Democracy Alliance, addresses the rally.
Gao Jian, Director of the Melbourne Chinese Democracy Alliance, recounted the first time he read the Nine Commentaries 20 years ago.
“In December 2004, I read the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party. I was deeply moved. The nine lengthy articles analyzed the evil nature and characteristics of the CCP from various perspectives, including history, culture, philosophy, and politics. The writing was concise and insightful, and its impact was enough to awaken people!” he said. “Soon after, I distributed copies of the Nine Commentaries to every member of the Melbourne Chinese Democracy Alliance, urging everyone to read it carefully.”
“This is Falun Dafa’s great contribution to the Chinese people,” Gao Jian said with admiration. “It should have been something we, the pro-democracy movement, did, but Falun Gong helped us do it. Their merits are immeasurable!
“In 2005, Falun Gong practitioners initiated the withdrawal movement, and the Melbourne Democracy Alliance immediately and actively responded. Every member signed the statement. In this magnificent movement, the Chinese people are peacefully dismantling the evil CCP cult.” He added, “Quitting the CCP is not a political struggle, but a moral choice; it’s not a struggle for power, but a salvation of the soul!”
The CCP’s Menace to Australia
Gerard Flood, former Victorian deputy leader of Democratic Labor Party, speaks at the rally.
In his speech, Gerard Flood, former Victorian deputy leader of the Democratic Labor Party, analyzed the threat posed by the CCP to Australia.
He quoted Rachel Noble, former director of Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), who said the CCP’s hacking operation codenamed “Salt Typhoon” posed a serious threat in that a remote attack could render drinking water undrinkable by increasing the chlorine content. He said that no regime could match the cyber threat posed by the CCP.
He said at the end, “Congratulations to all who have made this rally possible. Your work remains essential in resisting the CCP’s persecution.”
The CCP Must Be Disintegrated
Duy Quang Nguyen, president of the Vietnamese community in Victoria and vice president of the Vietnamese community in Australia, explained why he and his family fled the communist regime in Vietnam. “On April 30, 1975, the communists from the north crossed the border and took over our country. Vietnam lost its freedom, and we had no choice but to leave our homeland and come here,” he said.
Duy Quang Nguyen, president of the Vietnamese community in Victoria and vice president of the Vietnamese community in Australia, addressed the rally.
“We need to end the evil Chinese Communist Party. We are only against the communist party, not the Chinese or the Vietnamese. The Chinese and Vietnamese are the victims of the communist party.
“For decades, the communists always want to intervene or to infiltrate into our community. We live in Australia, so we need to protect Australia.”
Human rights activist Ruan Jie, head of the Republic of China Mainland Government Liaison Office, speaks at the rally.
Human rights activist Ruan Jie, head of the Republic of China Mainland Government Liaison Office, delivered a passionate speech. “To prevent World War III, we must end all authoritarian regimes in the world, especially the most evil and largest authoritarian regime like the CCP,” he said. He called on everyone, especially the Chinese people, to abandon the communist party.
Ruan Jie expounded on the CCP’s three major crimes against humanity, civilization, and Chinese people. “The CCP regime is traitorous and against the Chinese people. Over the past 80 years, the communist party has killed nearly 100 million Chinese people,” he said.
He concluded with an appeal: “Please quit the CCP and abandon the communist party. This is not only a bright future for the Chinese people, but also the most fundamental guarantee for peace in the entire international community.”

Ms. Gui began practicing Falun Dafa before the CCP launched the persecution. After arriving in Australia, she began volunteering to help people quit the CCP, including making phone calls to China. She makes calls six to nine hours a day, and on a peak day, she can persuade 80 people to quit the Party.
She once helped a hospitalized man withdraw from the Party. After he agreed and sincerely recited “Falun Dafa is good,” his health improved. A cleaning company owner in a southern city, after learning about the CCP’s nature, led 26 employees to withdraw from the Party.
Ms. Gui said that for over 20 years, Falun Gong practitioners have been diligently raising awareness and encouraging people to withdraw from the CCP at major tourist attractions—from New York to Paris, from Sydney to Melbourne. She said, “The wave of withdrawals brings hope to China.”
