(Minghui.org) Ms. Yu Xiaohui who lives in Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province, had her home raided twice in September 2025 because she practices Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party since July 1999.

In early September 2025, police in Hanzhong discovered self-adhesive stickers bearing Falun Gong messages in a certain place in town. After viewing surveillance videos, they claimed that Ms. Yu, who is in her 50s, visited that area and interrogated one of her former classmates who lived in that neighborhood. They questioned the classmate and asked if she knew whether Ms. Yu had contact with any local Falun Gong practitioners.

The police raided Ms. Yu’s home but did not arrest her. Weeks later, they raided her home again and confiscated her Falun Gong books, the music player she used to do the Falun Gong exercises, and some other personal items. They didn’t arrest her this time.

Ms. Yu credits Falun Gong for helping her recover from a rare congenital heart disease termed Tetralogy of Fallot (a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth). Her complexion was dark and spotted and her lips were purple. Her fingers were always swollen. She had little energy to walk, and usually had to stop every two steps and rest. Whenever her condition became severe, she sweated, vomit, had diarrhea, rapid heartbeats, chest pain, and shortness of breath. Her childhood and youth were spent seeking cures, but nothing helped.

After she took up Falun Gong in 1997, Ms. Yu gradually recovered. She walked briskly and had more energy. She also became much more cheerful and considerate. Her bad temper due to her illness disappeared. After the persecution began, however, she was repeatedly harassed for upholding her faith.

Two officers arrested Ms. Yu one night in March 2008. Captain Ma Ping’an and officer Li Youzhi raided the home she shared with her mother. They confiscated her Falun Gong books and extorted 1,000 yuan from her mother before releasing her.

After her mother passed away, Ms. Yu relied on her older brother for financial support (she had no source of income). Over the years, she was forced to renounce Falun Gong against her will on multiple occasions. Her health declined as a result. She later resumed practicing Falun Gong, only to have her Falun Gong books confiscated in September 2025.
