(Minghui.org) The mayor and the city council of El Paso, a city in western Texas presented a proclamation on September 19, 2025, proclaiming March 14, 2026 as “Shen Yun Performing Arts Day.” They highly praised Shen Yun Performing Arts for allowing local residents to appreciate high quality art and traditional values, and for bringing hope to audiences around the world despite the threats and intimidation of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) transnational repression.

The mayor and city council expressed in the proclamation that the courage and kindness displayed by Shen Yun artists facing the CCP’s persecution were an example to all of humankind, and that they were “proud to stand with Shen Yun Performing Arts.”

The proclamation reads:

“Whereas, Shen Yun Performing Arts is a non-profit dance and music company who has performed in EI Paso for 10 years, sharing the beauty of 5,000 years of divinely inspired Chinese civilization with our residents; and

“Whereas, for nearly two decades, Shen Yun has captivated audiences around the world with breathtaking performances that honor universal values such as compassion, loyalty, kindness, tolerance, and filial piety – values that resonate deeply with the people of EI Paso; and

“Whereas, the Chinese communist regime – an atheist dictatorship frightened by the traditional culture and values Shen Yun presents, launched a transnational repression against Shen Yun with tactics to include: pressure on theaters, bomb threats, disinformation campaigns, and lawfare; and

“Whereas, despite the repression and intimidation by the Chinese Communist Party, Shen Yun artists have courageously persevered in their mission, continuously bringing beauty, hope, and inspiration with the audiences and communities worldwide. The courage, kindness, and forbearance that Shen Yun artists displayed serves as a treasured example to all of humankind; and

“Whereas, EI Paso is proud to stand with Shen Yun Performing Arts in recognizing its extraordinary contribution to the cultural life of our city, its ability to build bridges of understanding across traditions, and its example of resilience in adversity.

“Now, Therefore, Be It Proclaimed: by the Mayor and Council of the City of EI Paso, encouraging all residents to celebrate the beauty of this world-class performance and the universal values it represents. March 14, 2026 shall be known as: “SHEN YUN PERFORMANCE ARTS DAY.””
